It's easier than I expected to replace the headlight bulbs. Just find the headlight bulb location, disconnect the power cable, and twist it out. Then, lock the new bulb on housing socket

Im glad you worded it the way you did. Alot of people will say checkout my new headlight upgrade, then i see its LED's and shake my head knowing its a downgrade.

Right? It’s not like some cars today where you need to take the whole front end off to change the bulb

Idk why there are so many haters on LED. It's your truck. Change whatever you want however you want. I put LEDs in mine. They're brighter than my stock setup and I like the 6000K color. I can't stand that yellowish stock tint. Different strokes for different folks.

They hurt people's eyes. Not yours though. You get to sit behind them enjoy your pretty white light while everyone else struggles to see.

And fancy stock LEDs or HIDs don't hurt your eyes either? The only time my eyes have been bothered is when people don't realize their brights are still on or they forgot about their light bar.

It’s best you don’t mention certain things on this site… unfortunately but you will learn. This happens to be one of the topics. Also spacers is on that list amongst other “hot” topics FYI

You won’t have the same amount of throw with leds but with halogen projector housings it’s at least better than regular halogen housings. The cutoff is decent enough to not blind oncoming traffic (yes I know the squirrel spotters )

I have hids to hold me over until I retrofit and spacers too :D

Added: just remember it’s your truck and your paying the bills! Do what you want

To each their own. I did enjoy led low beam bulbs for a while but felt like they were too bright. So I put the halogen back in.

Why? Because those cheap, illegal, not designed for these projector housing, LED's cause a shit load of glare to oncoming drivers, making it less safe for this dude and for anyone else unlucky enough to share the road with him. In addition, because they perform poorly compared to upgraded H11 halogen bulbs, you're more likely to actually hit something with these, and if that happens and your insurance company finds out, they might not cover you. 3400Kelvin is just fine for headlights and generally easier on the eyes as well. When I get a chance, I'll show y'all the spectral plots of a halogen (very smooth) vs. a cheap LED, which are simply missing big chunks of the visible spectrum. That stresses your eyes even if you don't realize it.

You've probably been lucky enough to avoid all the inconsiderate asshats who swapped in lights that their car wasn't designed for. Or maybe you're lucky enough to have retinas that don't vaporize easily. Mine do. Could be the downfall of blue eyes. Who knows.

Dont the projector style housing in the 3rd gens mitigate blinding others on the road? I know in my 2nd gen the housing was just reflective without any projection, which would make hid and led a nightmare I imagine

its because the stock reflectors in our headlamps are not optimized for led or hid bulbs, and scatter the light everywhere(in on-coming traffic)eyes. If you dont retrofit an led projector for led bulbs or an hid projector for hid's...best not to post your led bulb upgrade here. You will start an avalanche of shit. :crapstorm::anonymous:

Interesting. I just put hids in mine and drove past my bro a few times in his sedan asking if he was blinded, said it was 100% fine. Might swap back to stock now tho

OP asked about LEDs headlights and the terrible fog lights that aren’t even fog lights anymore more then once in the crash thread. He decided to ignore the information. You can lead a horse to water but you can make him drink. Started on page 69 of that thread, asked on July 24th

Simply not a scientific test at all. One person's opinion is just that. There are actual written lighting standards that define what it permitted and what is not in terms of not only glare but specific minimum and maximum allowable light levels. Put in a bulb that is not designed for the type of housing/projector and certain aspects of the light distribution *might* fall within specs but others might not. FFS, that cheap Chinese importer with a Japanese name actually brag on their website that their lights don't pass U.S. standard because they are too bright in areas. If you want to improve the lighting on your truck, put in a higher performance halogen bulb like a widely available Philips H11, the go out on a dark unlit highway on a moonless night, let you eyes adjust to the dark and you'll see just how good your lights already are. But first, have them aligned on type of machine that VW and Porsche use. Why do so many here think they are better lighting engineers than the actual ones employed by all the manufacturers, something that many of these aftermarket companies simply don't have either. Why do you want to mess with one of the primary safety features of your vehicle.
