took a double take at your backround, thats not lens blur, that has to be smudge. turn your cam to bulb, remove lens, expose and inspect sensor.

Have you tried locking the mirror up before taking the pic? The mirror flipping up and out of the way before the shutter opening will cause some vibration and you will not get tack sharp pics.

if its real sunny I use like 1/250 especially in direct sunlight...

are you using auto focus or manual focus? stupid question but had to ask...

honestly I have no clue what might be wrong with your camera... have you dropped it? but if its taking great night shots but horrible days shots that is weird...

    It's nocturnal!

When you shoot manual do you focus off eye or what the little circle at the bottom of the viewfinder tells you?

Tells you when you are focused in manual focus. It's cheating kind of haha. Maybe try focusing with the circle just for shits and see what happens. When the circle appears it's focused.

I would say your diopter is off if you manual focused all those previous pics by eye but I'm not sure.

Your over exposing. Post the EXIF information from the photograph, that will help a lot. I'm sure your histogram is heavy on the right. Cars as a rule are difficult to shoot due to the reflection. Dark colors red included can cause the camera meter to over/under expose. Not sure if your camera will let you, set the exposure on something neutral in the same light as your subject. As an example, set the exposure on the grass or trees around your truck. The camera metered off the dark truck and blew everything else out. Meter off something neutral in the same light and you give the camera a chance to keep everything within reason exposed properly.
The reason the the top picture looks so good, overcast day, no shadows, grey car with grey background, the camera meter will have a orgasm with those conditions.
Stop by the book store and flip through "Understanding Exposure" by Bryan Peterson. If you like what you see and it looks helpful pick it up.

That's what it's supposed to do. When you get closer to focus it will go off and when you get really close it will go on and off pending your adjustment and movement away from or towards the subject. When it stays solid the focus is perfect according to the camera.

Do u have other lenses? Try other lenses. I'm at work right now so it's hard to give detailed advice but a lens can become unsymchronizes overtime if it's knocked hard enough. Try a different lens. Shoot the same subject in the EXACT (same speed, f-stop, iso, distance, metering Mode, and focal point) then compare. If all else fails do what real men do...shoot canon. Lol
