Very cool. I am in the process of a lemon law case with my fr-s. Lawyer said it should be 2-4 more months. Anyways, I want a reg cab 4x4. And I have a small collection of stuff for it. Was going to go into the fr-s but I think it will work great in the tacoma too.

I am basically adding a distribution and ground block then putting in an extra TW3 and adding the 300/1 (with splitter for gain control knob up front). I have to run a few new wires and that is it.

The boxes were finished yesterday and the carpet goes on today.

Hushmat will go in either today or tomorrow and then this weekend the rest goes in....

I hate having it all out of my truck right now. No tunes SUCKS!!!

EDIT: I learned that it doesn't take much to remove the jack holder and hooks. A little brute force and some hammer action will take them right off. I am going to throw a little bit of bondo in the rivet holes that were left and then cover with HushMat.

Unfortunately, there will be an amp under that seat. I am going to velcro the jack down to the floor in between the sub boxes.

Is your box notched? I was being silly more than anything. The guy that helped me with the boxes claims I could easily fiberglass 4 10s behind the seat. I may attempt it just for the hell of it. I go apeshit when it comes to car audio. LOL.

Or use a mini hole saw, that's how I did mine. Just safer than risking bending the bar they attach to

Mine is behind the seat, I'll try and get a pic or 2 if you want..bet the jack would slide right in next to it even if you did under seat. Your idea would work also that's where I store my jack.

It is yes, my box came from a doublecab Tacoma. Prior to that I had split boxes.

Yeah. I just don't want to run the risk of making an abrupt maneuver in the truck and slamming it into the amp under the seat. It will just be trial and error I am sure.

I have been tinkering with car audio since 93. Back when Fosgate ruled the roost. I had 4 12" Punch Power subs pushed individually by 4 Punch 200s built into the trunk of a Civic back in 95. It would pound your brains out of your head for sure. I wish I could find pictures. This was before cell phone pics were common. LOL. I do have some pics of it, just need to dig to find them. I hit 156dbs with it. This is the reason I cannot hear anything nowadays...

I just beat the shit out of it until it came off. Didn't feel like ruining a drill bit on it. LOL. I am not worried about it. It is going to be silicon covered, plasti-dipped, then I am gonna add the HushMat. I decided Bondo was not the choice for me. Stinks to high heaven. It will be fine. I didn't mire it up too bad....no biggie. No one will ever know there is any kind of damage and it didn't compromise anything.

About the same here..I had a couple of nice Blaupunkt radios in the early 90s haha.

Nah, it's not a drill bit per se. Looks like a hole saw like you'd cut a door with but smaller. Nothing to ruin really, just drill a small pilot hole dead center so the saw doesn't walk over and drill out the spot welds.

Yeah, I chose the "beat the shit out of it" way. It's nothing that can't be cleaned up and covered anyway. Just need to dremel a few burrs out of it and slap something in there that has a rust inhibitor (I also considered JB Weld but not sure if that will work the same or if it will protect from rust), then cover it with the damping material. I think it is stupid that they have that cross member there but I guess it is for structural integrity so it makes sense. 3 weeks ago when I started thinking all of this through I was super paranoid about doing anything with the hooks or the jack holder. Now that I have done it, I realize that is it nothing that is extremely major. Just needs a little patch up work and it'll be good to go. It's not like any of it is going back in there. HA!

I literally removed the damn holder by hand. Just rocked it back and forth until the welds snapped. The hooks took a big flat head and hammer to remove them. Easy enough. Now on to the fun shit! Putting the equipment in.

Give me until either Saturday or Sunday and I will get pics posted. I have managed to find extra time this week due to work being slow. I wasn't gonna come back to the thread until it was finished but you guys have made this more fun than expected. The guys at the beginning of the thread with the "rock out with your cock out" had me cracking up! I still go back and read the thread and laugh....

That's just it..a little prying was bending the crossmember a little so I figured I don't want to screw with that.

I hear ya and totally agree.

I just did a test fit with one of the boxes and it is going to be nice and snug right under the notch. Maybe that will be enough to strengthen any weakness I may have caused. I honestly didn't beat it to death. I just did what was necessary. Play now, pay later, right? It's a commitment....

There's a little teaser. I don't have a ton of extra time on my hands. Sorry guys. I promise this thread will be picture heavy once I start the install on Saturday afternoon.

I went back and checked the cross member this morning. I didn't do any damage to the welds that hold it onto the back wall. I put some plasti-dip and epoxy in and around the holes that were left. I decided to sand it down and throw some JB Weld on top of that just to be safe. I am hoping to get the HushMat in tonight or tomorrow before we start putting everything in.

Should rock quite well when you get everything installed. The C2 comp set is a smooth sounding set. I used it straight up, never adjusted the tweeter at all. It sounds good right out of the box. Those boxes you've built look good for the subs too. Now, it's just wedging all of it in the cab of a single cab truck. :rockband:

Yeah, I test fitted it yesterday. It's nice and snug. The boxes aren't that pretty but they are built solid. The sides were fiberglassed in and the inside was sealed off with bondo/fiberglass. It should pound.

I love the C2s. They are loud as shit with zero gain. Can't wait to get it tuned up.
