Stock life for me. For now...
    Hello!

After test driving my first Toyota Tacoma last week I was appalled. I was upset at the fact I waited this long to consider the Tacoma as an option to replace my current daily driver.

Now I've owned 27 vehicles in the last 11 years and the most recent prior to the Tacoma was a 2016 Regal GS. I owned it for 16 months which set a record for the longest time period I've had a vehicle in my posession. I've spent the last 6 months trying to trade it for anything that caught my eye but nothing made a great enough case until on a whim one day I test drove a 2018 Tacoma TRD Sport we had in inventory at my dealership. I thought "Why not a Tacoma? It's reliable, capable, and highly modifiable.".

It wasn't stock but it wasn't heavily modified either. A leveling kit and in my opinion an atrocious while/tire setup. The wheels were 22" Moto Metals and the tires were more of a street performance tread. It just wasn't MY style. BUT once I opened the driver side door, jumped inside and looked down I knew I wasn't leaving the cabin anytime soon. It was a manual! The second I shifted gears I knew I wanted a Tacoma with a 6-speed manual but I didn't want this one. However, I took it home that evening to test the waters with my wife.

My wife couldn't say no. She thought the idea of having a truck was great and she loved the fact it was a manual transmission which she learned how to drive from me many moons ago.

After some some late night research I decided on a TRD Off Road for the main reason it has an electric locking rear diff and it needed to have a manual transmission.

    My search began..

Somehow that next day I was lucky enough to find a 2019 Tacoma TRD Off Road with 22k miles completely stock at one of our dealerships. I called my brother (salesperson there) and said "You still have that Tacoma? Mark it sold. I'll be there in 30 minutes to take delivery!".

This truck makes me genuinely happy and it brings back many fond memories of having a vehicle with a manual. I look forward to learning and modifying it to accomodate some light overlanding and camping this summer. The greatest part is the Tacoma will bring our family together to explore the world around us in a way we've never been able to. Sport saloons and coupes I had in the past were purely for my enjoyment. This Tacoma is for OUR enjoyment. Many new memories ahead for my wife and our two boys!

Excited to be here! Cheers to all of you!

Thanks! The variety and range of aftermarket support is really starting to come into perspective. I'm in trouble lol.

The way you swap vehicles, you'll have supply chain delayed mods arriving in boxes a month after you've moved on............

Enjoy it while you can. And just like the one you looked at you didn't buy, they resell much better stock. Mostly because folks think their mod selection will be better than the PO's.

    Welcome to the nuthouse

I’m sure I won’t keep it stock but I’ll definitely keep my stock components for when the day we depart comes. Which hopefully is far from now!

    Thank you!!
