Totally depends on what the user wants. If low back seats and high step in are more important that dependability and resale, then it's not your truck.

I'm not butt hurt. I don't agree with some of the points they brought up. As far as I'm concerned my truck rides pretty damn good for a "truck" (even on 10 ply tires). If I wanted a cushy ride I would have bought a Cadillac.

The fact remains. This is the best truck for "me". I agree that it isn't for everyone and the mileage could be better. But as a all around capable truck that hauls my family around with no issues and what I consider to be pretty comfortable I'm pleased with my purchase. Plus I still love the way it looks. I'm in no hurry for them to change anything though I know it's coming.

I think there is already a thread on this. It basically boils down to the fact that the tacoma has gone unchanged (for the most part) over the last 10 years. I can think of very few vehicles that have done the same. Perhaps it is a testament to Toyota build quality or a sign that they are getting lazy. Who knows. Most of CR's points are valid, even if they don't matter to you and me.

Ride, id have to agree with sometimes. But comming from a lowered car to the truck, its not that bad. I think a lot of people are too used to the cars and trucks with luxurious, soft suspensions and the Tacoma definately does not have that.

Handling is the only thing Id really disagree with. For what it is, a mid sized 4x4 truck, they handle great!

i’m not butt hurt. just don’t see how they say it has such bad handling its a damn truck not a sports car.

I think if it can take a 180 degree curve with an apex half the size of the truck and take that curve at 15 to 20mph and stay in it’s lane. i think it handles pretty damn well since it’s hard for some cars to even do that.

I wonder what they are comparing the handling of this truck to.... because if it's compared to any other mid-size / full size truck on the market.... it out handles them all. I've driven the Colorado, the Frontier, the Ranger, the Ridgeline. And I've driven plenty of full size trucks (Brand new F-150, Silverado, Titan, Ram 1500)... The Tacoma has by far the best handling of any truck I've driven. I'm not sure what Consumer reports is comparing to.

They are comparing it to the minivans that are easy to step in and out of and have taller back seats.

I think last year or year before they said the ridgeline handled better than the taco.

I could believe that because its basically a car. My buddy has one. Thing is a joke offroad... High centers on everything. The AWD has trouble climbing, in snow, and mud.

They are comparing it to the other two midsize trucks available on the market - the Frontier, and the Ridgeline. Both of which have better road manners than the Tacoma.

It is what it is. Haveing had a Ridgeine, which was a great vehicle for just about everything and was cheaper than the Taco I have now, I think it really just calls to the old design of the Taco and the higher expectations of the consumer. At the end of the day I am happy with me Baja, although I think more competition in the smaller truck market would be healthy for everyone.
Just my opin, so get to hatin'

    My take.......
Toyota Tacoma has always had noisy engines.
The jiggly ride is because its a truck. Have they NOT driven a 2500 or 3500 Dodge Ram?
Low seat/floor height.....Have they NOT driven a Corvette?
Stiff TRD suspension...Yes.....Its for Off Road.

As for the reliability, Since the 2011's, I have noticed quality drop a bit, so I'll give them that.

Only men drive trucks. If you're gonna complain about the Tacoma, then you're a pussy. I love my truck for what it is. I'll take the good with the bad.

The thing that frustrates me is, The reason most trucks went to IFS, is because people bitched about the ride. SO.....Manufactures cave, and go IFS. They keep solid rear, for strength, and hauling capacity. Does the truck drive like a fucking Mini Cooper? NO. BUT.....It drives leaps and bounds better than a 4x4 from the 80's with solid front axels. Its time for a new manufacturing campaign. Its called the "FUCK YOU, ITS A TRUCK" campaign. Does it drive like a Toyota Camry? NO! Does it have a little flower holder on the dash? FUCK NO! Does it get comparable mpg to my Prius? FUCK YOU! Whats it do then? It carries heavy shit. It tows heavy shit. It drives in dirt/rocks/snow. Its got 15 fucking cup holders for your 75 oz. coffee mug. If you park too close to it, its gonna dry hump your fucking Honda Civic.
Every Road Test truck should come with a dude that hops out, and punches the tester in the fucking skull before the test starts.

My girfriend complains about having to "climb" into my Tacoma(not lifted)... The other day we came out of the grocery store and a Ford Raptor had parked next to me. Her jaw dropped. I wish I had taken a picture of them side by side. I have to say If money was not an object, I would probably by the Raptor. I think they look sick.

I don't agree with consumer reports. Remember they rated the Honda Ridgeline (the pickup wanna-be with 4 doors and a short bed) higher than the Tacoma and they aren't even the same thing unless you don't know what low range is.
