    So he took apart one of them, presumably the one from a wrecked Sport, and put an air locker in it.

    Correct, but some are saying that the gears are wrong for the diff. The only way that could happen is if he pulled the gears from the sport axle and put them into his sr axle.

    That's only if the ring gears are actually different sizes. As with the 1st/2nd gens, the different diff "sizes" had nothing to do with the size of the ring gears. The 8.4" still has an 8" ring gear.

    I'm still betting the ring gears are actually the same size. But I am a terrible gambler so I could be wrong, lol.

    But lets assume they are different sizes. Whatever the OP supposedly did here was so much extra work than just getting a locker for the original diff.

    Hopefully he still has the original axle housing intact. That way he can just get a locker installed in that one like what should have happened in the first place.
