I installed it, his wishes. I offered to keep it out for him to install after coating.

Again, I knew nothing of cerakoting ... the main problem here is the hardness of the coating exceeding the hardness of the shifter shaft. Also, potential media trapped behind the Teflon.

I left this to his professional. All threads were machined to least material conditions, and space was never my concern.

Now that I have researched cerakote, and know that its hardness exceeds the shifter shaft, this is what caused it to get permastuck. The aluminum could not have possibly damaged the induction hardened shaft, but the coating can.

He was present during the development process, which happened organically on this forum.

I don't really have much more to say here, so I'm gonna bounce unless tagged or quoted. IMO @7r41lbr34k3r should practice good customer service, and send @orangeracer that new knob for free. I think you should both treat this like what it is, which is a learning experience, and move on. Life's too short to get this twisted over something so minor.

If you need instructions for five pieces, then maybe you need to hire an installer. Just sayin'

Are we reading something different? "Probably wont have to" and " not cover" aren't synonymous to the best of my knowledge.

Ok let me break it down for you, there are 2 ways the knob could have seized on.

    1. Galvanic corrosion
Requires time and electricity/corrosive environment, obviously not the cause because none of these conditions are met.

    2. Galling
Caused by adhesion between 2 surfaces in sliding contact, aluminum is very PRONE to this. But, if the threads are correct pitch there shouldn't be enough force to cause seizure on the first time threading in, even without antiseize.

    So either
A: The threads were too tight due to foreign material (ie cekacote or blasting media), and the increased friction caused the galling.
    Or
B: When the shaft bottomed out and you continued to turn, the previously freely sliding threads had a lot of force put on them, and the large increase in friction caused the galling.

So yes, while antisieze MAY have prevented this, it was your actions that caused it. You can damage any threaded connection by what you did, aluminum is just more susceptible to it. The seller is not responsible for the removal of lubricant, the failure to reapply it, failure to clean the threads before install or the over tightening. All of these are why it seized.

They both had done a few wrongs, that added up too a BIG mess,I think the O.P should cancel his dispute and the Vendor should send a replacement, then shake hands and call it a day.

Embellishment, it's 2 parts. 3 if you count the Teflon insert. 4 if you count the anti seize.

I know you didn't state the 5 parts hiPSI

Not really. According to the seller he assumed there was enough room in the threads but then later realized he was wrong

Maybe 7r41lbr34k3r can make him a new shifter knob, but instead engrave a screenshot of the original knob on it?
