OP should return faulty product if he wanted a refund/replacement. That's how most companies do business. It helps vendors find out what caused issues so they can be prevented in the future. Only companies that go out of their way to be extra nice would supply a replacement after a end-consumer modified their product. You can't go buy a brand new PS4, crack the seal in it, mod the inside, then send it back for a refund because your mod didn't pan out.

I do think there was a lot of confusion from both of them around the cerekote, both parties should have gathered more info before concluding to okay thread coverage. Trailbreaker provided a product as advertised, that as far as we know worked before the coating. After it becomes modified it's no longer covered by a manufacturers defect warranty (which is a fancy term for what I assume Trail would've covered).

The only fault Trail has on this is that the instructions didn't make it to the OP somehow. Whether he actually neglected to send him digital or physical copies is unclear. He did provide alignment pieces and in the thread OP purchased from described that lubrication is needed. OP being a consumer, should have at least viewed that thread before even putting money down. I don't know many people who buy things on the internet without reading the descriptions, reviews, or questions, especially when dealing with a non-vendor status user.

This is why I think the Op is in the wrong demanding a refund, when he (or his cerkoter in this case) received a perfectly functional product before it was modified with little foreknowledge other than "he's my guy, he knows what he's doing, I've had no problems with him". /end I'm out of this thread.

I agree. And I’ve said more than once both can be at fault. Yes OP is at fault, but per recent bans I thought we were not allowed to call uninformed people dumbs asses, apparently it’s ok sometimes. Do I think seller has a little fault yes, do it think he is half or anywhere near that, no. I can say at least the seller admitted to the one tiny mistake he made, OP is just blaming. Either way yes the guy didn’t know, you guys really think he knew and did this all on purpose so he could make a thread and try and blame the seller and the end product he gets slammed? As said before the only thing left at this point is mom jokes

Oh man, I hadn't thought about that...Now I have to be careful and read the instructions when I buy a riser...

Ive never disputed op was also wrong. But same can be said for instructions, if it needs instructions might want to include them. My opinion is still this should’ve been hashed out between buyer and seller and none of our opinions mean anything. TW shit posting at its finest

Yeah. I've seen some very mixed messages. I got a warning about a couple not so racy pics that were a lot milder than some folks have in their siggys.

Given that this was a development idea, there should have been some communication going on at the time of installation. rrentrop and I went through that when prototyping the dash chrome black-out stickers. He sends extras in the package to cover goof ups. They're selling like mad now.

I'm a hands on person and have charged off many times on mods or such. Any time that I found resistance, work stops and I dig out the paperwork that I was too stupid to read before starting.

Like you know, none of this is rocket science, but screw ups cost $$. And if we're talking about threads, just look how often "pros" hose up lug nuts. Hahaha!

Definitely the paper ones since they are different from the website. There is a very good warning about adjusting the mirror afterward. You don't want to be torquing on the bracket since it is longer now, putting more strain on the original mount.

Now this is so true. How many times have all of us put something together and not even bothered with the instructions, until shit hits the fan then it’s all IKEAS fault

I'm gonna come out and say that, I was viewing this on my phone earlier, and didn't see all the information given. I may have gone off the deep end a bit, and apologize. Still not thinking a refund is in order however.

Nope. There has to be some level of reaponsibility from the buyer.
If I sell you one item with one threaded port, ship it to your desired location, you have it modded and then mess up the install. Regardless of anything else, instructions, anti seize, etc, I cannot reconcile, in any world, any of it being the seller's fault.

I agree. But I still think I went to the flame thrower too soon. And......with too much flame.

Thanks. We make mistakes......*cough*.......but try to recover and admit if we're (I'm ) out of line.
