After having two Tacomas that suffered from rust issues, a '99 and an '06, I have personally given up on the "quality" that is Toyota Tacoma. Honestly, I would have been able to look past the outdated styling of both the exterior and interior, the plastic bed that I had to replace on my '06, the tailgate that had to be removed to prevent turning it into a taco shell when loading cargo, the soft rear springs that were not covered under the TSB because I had a regular cab that "wasn't affected" by the crap parts, the obnoxious sounds that the blower fan made while on, the fuel economy of a full size truck in a 4cyl commuter scooter, but to have two trucks that literally rotted out from under me in a 10 year window just put a bad taste in my mouth.

Now, you say that you want to go to another brand forum and discuss your Tacoma. Do you honestly think that this does not happen? Do you think that Tundras, Silverados/Sierras, and Rams are not compared to F-series trucks? Fact is, the Tacoma was a great truck...when the '05 redesign came out in '04. After 9 years I'd say it is time for a change and by change I mean more than grill and hood.

Not butthurt at all. It's not my money. I just don't understand these stupid threads of I bought "insert whatever model here" and it is so much better than your Tacoma. You put this on a TACOMA forum.... What do you expect people to say??? "Hey man good choice!!!!" "I sure wish I would have bought a piece of shit Ford over my more reliable Tacoma".

If you bought a new truck great. If you are happy with it fine. Just don't expect a warm send off when you come in here and say how much better your truck is than all of ours on a Tacoma forum because you won't get it.

Well, I recommend you stop reading these threads then... this simple tactic will save you from having to understand them... As for me, I am curious as to the reasoning behind the decision making process, be it family, new job, blah, etc. as I once traded a tacoma in on a full size and then came back a couple years later.

and FYI, you do seem a little butthurt. :notsure:

I work for my county as a fleet mechanic. We MUST buy and use domestic brands. The Dodges are the most horrible for frequent failures, but the Chevys and Fords dont fall too far behind. None of the parts are made in the U.S...everything is made to last for a limited ammount of time....Very sad situation. That said, honestly, I'm not sure that the newer Toyotas are much better. I've owned only Toyotas since 1978 after I swore off of Fords. Those old Toyotas would last and last. Most are still putting around. I now have a 2009 Tacoma purchased new. A 2010 Yaris. Purchased new and a 2014 Scion XB. Purchased new. None have been exactly "PERFECT". Enjoy your new truck. Nothing lasts forever anymore.

I've leased an 07 F150 5.4 and ran 50K no issues, then brother bought it after lease and ran it for another 150K (all work btwn us), just brakes, plugs and fluids.. .
Having been in a slew of company F-550s, they all needed new 6.0L Diesels before 100K, but I would buy a 7.3 Diesel from earlier Super-Duty's in heart beat.. Crown Vics 03+ PI I would own happily and not worry about reliability.. some Fords are inferior, some were built right.. .

The only thing that worries me about all the new American Trucks are the electronic and gizmo complexity, Diesels too.. I like it basic, I can't stand the electric knob for the 4x4 in my Taco, but it's still relatively simple...

I know a guy that also bought a brand new Ford F-150, something catastrophic happened to the engine before it even had its first oil change. I have never heard of that ever happening to a Toyota.

Arguing over choice of vehicles with someone who drives a Mustang is something I'll never do. Hopefully you at least got the Stang with a manual.

They feel obligated to tell the world why they did what they did. And from my experience when you have to justify it to others it was not a good decision.
