Its kinda harsh when you think about it, However its not bad if you don't drink and drive. Its now at the place that even a hundred bucks for a taxi is cheep, compared to 2k in fines and the loss of licence for a year.

Well, I'm glad the OP recognized his mistakes and how serious it is; as well as not blaming the Police who are only doing their jobs.
When I was a little younger 21-22 I used to go out drinking every Fri at the bar, and wait as long as possible before driving, eat a lot of food and water. But I'm pretty sure I was pushing it close, I just don't do it anymore, not worth the risk. I hope others see this thread and think about it next time.

I understand and sort of agree with our regulations. Too many immature little punks drinking and driving and laughing about it meanwhile it's the sober ones that get killed by them.

This sounds like you got it reduced to a wet and reckless. Did you have to do any jail time. I heard 48hrs. Btw I weigh 220 and 6 1". I had an atomic fireball in my mouth the whole time up to jail. (weird). The cop was a trainee and his passenger was the bystander. Turns out he never read me my miranda rights. I passed all four field test though. 4/4 only highlight...

i had a couple buddies just get dui's as well. they both lucked out and got em droppd to wreckless or neglegent driving, and it was alot cheaper for the both of them. one had ot pay 300 bucks and the other was 5. with a clean record you should have no problem getting it knocked down to that. but good luck

Thats nothing Arizona is harsh! My personally my fines were over $3000. No license for 1 year then 1 year with interlock. Interlock cost about 100 for install and then 75 bucks a month. I had to do MADD, SADD and so many other classes. Spent 24 hours in jail. I unfortunately also went with a lawyer which set me back $5000. If I happened to blow something with the interlock, for every infraction it would add 1 year to having to have it. I was smart and did not screw around with it!

just count your blessings and move on. Be glad you didn't hurt anyone you knew or a random person. or worse killed someone or mangled your body.... trust me.

    In hawaii. I blew a .278

The new law (2008) is anything >.15 you skipped first offense and go straight to second offense.

I payed my dues and my fines..I'm just thankful I didn't hurt anyone or crashed.. I got pulled over and didn't even fight it, I KNEW i was fukked...hired one hell of a good lawyer. just put it this way I spend enough money to buy to buy a 2011 truck in cash lol.

Sorry man. WHo knows how much more worse the night could have ended. The $10k for a good lawyeris just the beginning cost, but it is still much cheaper than what could have happened. Good for you for admitting fault.

I am usually the DD when going out.

Well I too agree with the lowering. I am 34 and honestly just made a bad judgment call. At no time did I feel intoxicated or slurred speech etc. I passed every field test they gave me. Nailed the close your eyes and estimate 30 seconds in your mind to the exact second. Cop smiled. Anyways do not mean to make light of the situation. I honestly can say I will never touch another drop of alcohol again.
