I prefer a selectable locker, ARB is what I'd want.

From 05-08 the TRD Sport came with a clutch type LSD and Bilstein shocks. Those trucks were really fun to drive.

The TRD Sport is like Bleu Cheese. Some people love it and the rest don't want anything to do with it. :D

    1 it's a van bro lol
2 we got a scoop, gives the appearance of speed without moving.
3 I tow and haul don't really ever off road, so I got nothing to add.

Vans are making a comeback. Dont be a hater....

really though its just a great video that showcases the dif of a locked diff vs open. And you get a similar if not the same type of vehicle doing the same rough terrain and how 4wd really aint 4wd till you lock it.

I scooped a 08 sport and love it.
I think alot of people here are underestimating what the truck can do without a locker. I went to hammers and did everything (besides the crawling) in my almost stock tacoma and never had to go into 4X4 for the whole week. (I know it has a LSD but still)

Where I am OR only comes in DCSB. I carry skis, bikes, coolers, camping gear, etc. all the time and the extra bed space meant far more to me than a locker.

I went TRD sport bc I wanted quicksand color and non close enough in quicksand that were offroad.

Another thing if I went offroad I could get a scoop for trade and maybe 250. This is optional as if I didn't have scoop I wouldn't pay extra for it

Painted fenders and front bumper along with painting the black or chrome rear bumper. That would cost over 1000 right there to have a body shop do it for you. I'm guessing as I have no idea what it would be after prep and paint

Also sticker is not the same between TRD OR and TRD sport according to toyota website, but invoice is. Thing is some dealers a probably more willing to negotiate on the sport.

I'd vote whatever you get the best deal on always, if you save enough going sport with an ARB is much better.

    I rambled.

I use my truck for hauling, towing and occasional winter commuting. The Sport is better at all of those things than an Off Road. A locker would only be useful to me if it operated in 2wd.

I couldn't live with the auto in my 2016 SR5, so it was Sport or Pro. Thankfully there wasn't a Cement MT on the dealer's lot, because that would have been a difficult conversation with the wife.

I haven't used the locker in my Frontier Pro-4x much at all. The local trails that require a locker are well beyond the capability of the rest of the truck. The traction control makes it pretty damn capable without the locker.

Another thing I tend to see (in my area) is guys who put lockers on there truck for the "gnarlier" stuff (which i understand) but without another 10K in upgrades the rest of the truck won't make it up the trail so they bought the locker to use on trails that they didn't even need a locker for

Cause the OR is ugly. Unpainted fenders look unfinished and the lack of a hood scoop decreases hp by like 400
