Awesome! That is great to hear.

If you're ever looking to try some of the custom user made tunes out there, would definitely recommend getting a hold of @Boltripper and try the Overland Torque Tune (info@overlandtailor.com). A lot of us are running that tune, most of us started with OVTune in some form or function but have moved up and on and this new tune is fantastic. I've come from KDMax which isn't my personal favorite until this new tune came along. You can read their development thread here.

I mean, you do you of course.. just know it's not hard to change up subtle things relating to driveability once you learn how certain tables and their values interact. I'm not talking about messing with ignition/fuelling either.
Anyway, there's plenty of info out there should you ever want to try it out! I just got my 04B42 tune pack a few weeks ago and plan to try a few things with the SFOB regular file. That's the beauty of OVT's tunes, they're not locked.

Sorry, noobie question as I have only just begun my rabbit hole of learning about tunes for the 3rd gen tacomas.

When people are talking about coming from VFtune to OV, or KDMAX, are you paying for these tunes and just eating the few hundred dollar cost if you don't like the tune?
I want to try several tunes to see which I like but id hate to have to spend the money to try 3 or 4 different tunes

What is the Full Otto actually mean? I'm debating getting a tune on for my 6MT TRD OR and this sounds amazing

Yep, you pay, no free lunches or tunes.

But, I'll go one level up and give you your money back if you don't like the Valley Runner tune.

I’ll one-up his one-up. I don’t even charge the customer until they’ve tested the tune on their truck up a mountain pass (helps I live at the base of a mountain pass…)

Many tuners have access to multiple tunes to allow customers to test several. However, enough data and experience is becoming available that there are clear favorites as far as tunes go. I’ve tested and data logged pretty much every tune available.

This is currently “the one” from my perspective:

it is something like you describe but that's part of the point of this forum, so you can get shared info and ask q's and find the best one to suit you.

then again some of us have indeed bought all or most of them to compare. there are quite a few here with all the experience to answer any question you may have.

regarding the full otto thing, this was a big landmark in development from OV a few years back and it brought a lot of life and control to the MT trucks in particular. if you ever see tunes with something like 'SFOB' in the name, those are the early tunes, which meant 'Super Full Otto version B'. one tuner, @mZiggy of Yotawerx, also had a big focus on taking what those tunes offered and then built on it. he has been doing the SC tunes and making many of the SC guys super happy, and he has learned enough about this motor to bring the NA tunes to another level. a few of us are testing the NA Yotawerx tunes right now and if it was me in your shoes i would wait for it, especially if you're in a MT truck. but i don't know when it will be finalized.

    Thank you sir.

The things I discovered on the Forced Induction side have aspects that translate perfectly to the NA side and frankly, they're game changers. Very excited about the YotaWerx tune updates we'll be releasing

Can’t feel connected to a vehicle that has power everything. (Power steering, brakes, etc) If you want to “feel” connected, need to back to a carbed engine and power nothing, even still a caged vehicle still doesn’t feel as connected as you do on a motorcycle.

Yeah man, screw power windows. I don't feel like I'm in control if I'm not cranking the shit out of that lever in a panic when it starts to rain.

LOL! Find posts like these about being connected to the vehicle for drivability hilarious. We are so far removed from that with today’s vehicle. “Drivability”…ummm, get in, start it, drive it. Kinda like being a little disconnected now, those old vehicles with power nothing used to beat the shit out of ya.

Thank you! I appreciate your input, I definitely have a lot of research to do before I decide on a tune to get
