This bed tent was donated to me. But it had a 25 in tear in the seam, hanging outside the truck bed but wanted to make it MOSTLY waterproof.

I used "alien tape" (that chincy stuff, but it works well enough) to hold the edges together enough to work with at "as if it was fixed". Then used "Gear Aid Tenacious Tape". REI website said it must be ordered but the salesperson checked official stock and found 3 rolls (2 for fixing, 1 extra to keep in the car for grins and giggles).

Final fix, should be enough according to TW reviews of Gear Aid Tenacious Tape.

REI had 3 rolls, which is enough right now for me. A sleeping bag might be repaired, but it is vintage 2000 (earlier?) and of unknown temperature limits so a new bag is probably warranted. North Face has a 3-way (50 degree, 15 degree, 30 degree ... two shells of different rating) that is pricey enough but seems versatile. And the third roll is in the truck to be joined by the remains of the 2nd roll.
