Ya... I'm not taking the dashboard apart and I might miss the turnsignal noise.

    So...
Unscrew the plunger button on the door frame. It is a one wire deal.

Drill that hole for the bolt a little bigger.
Wrap the bolt with a narrow piece of electric tape.
Put a small O ring and an 'almost as big as the "washer"' O ring on the bolt.

Put another small O ring on the bolt and reattach it.

    Done.

I got a little box with a whole lot of different Orings from large online retailer for $10.

I've yet to check if this fixes the "beeps 8 times" thing but since the truck no longer has any clue that the door is open, it should fix the majority of the annoying beeps and it's EASY :)

You could but you would never be able to plug it in again and some silly, overly safety minded person/dealership might frown on that

I have no idea about that. I live in a rural area and rarely lock it. If it causes a problem, it's entirely reversible !!

And now your dome lights won't turn on when the door's open.

Can't you change the setting in Techstream?

I don't understand the point of this.

I also don't understand the solution of drilling out the screw hole, adding electrical tape and o-ring has anything to do with changing how the mechanical switch works when the door is open vs closed.

Someone with good english and grammar help me out.

Now you have no automatic dome light… Security system is now borked. No warning if door isn’t properly closed (not a biggie, pretty obvious lol) If you have remote start it may do something weird with that too but I’m not sure.

your truck is new enough that it can be turned off in techstream. Earlier 3rd gens do not have this luxury.

I pulled that piezo speaker off the back of my gauge cluster and enjoy a silent truck. Best mod I ever did. Like not even exaggerating I appreciate it every time I use the truck. I hate that I waited so long to do it. Turn signals are obvious with the big green arrows and the edge of the mirrors inbuilt turn signal lamp

I’m struggling as well. It would insulate the screw from grounding the switch on the body? That’s the only thing I can think of

He is inhibiting the ground. The switch is no longer grounded (by the application of rubber). I think. ??

As far as unplugging the switch... just attach a piece of string to the loose wire, pinch the string with the re-installed switch itself, and you can fish the wire out later to reverse your work.

I’m just proud of myself for guessing correctly. I’d go your route. Thought the same thing when op said you couldn’t reattach it…
Tape it or tie it to the switch. Idk this whole thing is weird to me anyway, but different people have different priorities. I like interior lighting and having an alarm too much I guess

I agree with you about the fix being worse than the fault. I wouldn't bother with this. But then, I've lost most of my hearing so this will never be loud enough to be an annoyance to me.
