Import a Hilux. I just did recently. It is glorious! I love it!! I just drove 80 miles today on it and now realize why Toyota wanted to create a different truck for American consumers.

The Hilux is completely utilitarian and the toughest vehicle I've ever driven. The Tacoma was created for comfort. In doing so, I believe certain aspects of reliability on the Tacoma was compromised (Frames/CPS etc).

Americans trade in their trucks frequently, so reliability issues for Toyota of America is nearly a non factor. There are a number of previous 2016 3rd gen owners who got new 2017 3rd gens on this forum. Some did that to get an issue free truck.

People in other parts of the world keep their vehicles for life due to how much more expensive they are and their use in more remote locations. Toyota just makes the Hilux tough. Way more tough than the Tacoma.

There is so much fail in this thread. Here's my breakdown, Op has howling rear end, like we all do (whether you notice or not, I could make your truck howl). Op makes first mistake of having dealer work on his truck. Dealer screws up first diff install. Replace with new diff with the same shotty work. It's just funny that there was nothing wrong with the rear diff in the first place, this is not a noise from the gears or diff. But OP came to tacomaworld and found a pitchfork to raise hell with.

And if Op's truck is a lemon, then all of our trucks are lemons, and I fucking love my lemon.

Toyota took care of you, why would you not stand with them? I would get a nice new taco, and try again.

    You quoted me incorrectly

I wasn't talking to you. I know your truck was a lemon and Toyota agreed. :) As you know I was Counsel there for many years.

I was talking to the morons who are giving you a hard time because your truck failed. Their lack of IQ and common sense is apparent.

Good luck on your next truck:)

Just because toyota is treating you properly does not mean your truck is a lemon. The disconnect between head quarters and dealers is insane. Look how many diff replacements have been approved with the originals in spec.
