I got one heck of an oil change at the dealer, I'm not happy at all!

This is exactly why I chose not to use toyotacare.

This is exactly why I never take my vehicle in for oil changes. They always give those jobs to the high school kids that work there, and they always mess something up. I would rather spend $15, do it myself and know that its done right

Missing My Last Tacoma --- Had 11 Toyota trucks in the past and many other Toyota cars too.
^^^ ... The dealer "double filled" my Subaru's oil about 8 years ago and it did weird things when I first drove it.

My wife took her Camry into the dealership Saturday to get the oil changed and tires rotated.

That night I noticed a puddle of oil under her car and the damn drain plug wasn't even finger tight. Luckily she only lost a quart or two. Just blows my mind with these idiots that work there.

Changing the oil in these trucks couldn't be any simpler for the common man. I use synthetic oil mainly because I can go longer between oil changes than with conventional oil.

I bought a Fumoto valve a few months ago to keep it simple. Oil changes cost me $30 for the oil from Walmart and OEM filter from Toyota... Takes me 15 minutes to do, saves me tons of money, but mostly gives me peace of mind that the job was done correctly.

Have never been once to a dealership for an oil change on any car/truck/suv I've ever owned and I never will. Just the time out of my life for them to do it would be ridiculous, much less the risk. Toyotacare(lessness) is NOT free.

It takes a little longer than that to drain completely through my Fumoto. Only drawback to the Fumoto. 15 minutes is about what I actually spend on it. I open the Fumoto and do others things while draining.

If dealership oil change tards can't handle a drain bolt, imagine them trying to figure out the Fumoto. No tellin what may happen. You'd probably end up with anti-freeze in the motor with them thinking that was the radiator drain.

My co-worker (Hyundai Sonata and took to Hyundai Dealer) got a quote for oil change, front and rear brakes (new rear rotors), flush all fluids, wiper blades, taillight bulb, and they even quoted a fuel system clean service all for $1,100. I laughed and he asked what would I do. I said "do it myself".

Cap'n, I guess you're right, Wally mart usually is cheap. I still wouldn't if for no other reason than they use a Fram oil filter. Fram, basically a roll of toilet paper in a metal can IMO....lol.
