(prerunner here) would have engaged my locker and tore down the building, falling on the jackass behind me.

I ran a car wash and would still wash it by hand if I wanted a really good job done. My friends thought I was crazy.

Remember...Some carwashes REUSE the wash water and use new water for the rinse cycle. So if you live somewhere that they put salt on the roads and decide to take it to the car wash to get the salt off...well you get the picture!

    LOL
    I can relate -

I was installing new carpet in my basement, that the side yard had this "hump". (This was in my previous truck, a normal 2WD with no locker)

I backed my loaded truck up to the basement door so we can drag the large roll of carpet in, I threw in some remnants of old padding, but didn't add any weight.

    The grass was wet.

I got stuck in my own yard.

    I bounced between R and D - I rocked the truck -

Stuck in my own damn yard, LOL

I had to get my wife to drive it while I jumped my fat ass up and down on the rear bumper.

Soon afterwards, I had a shiny new 4WD taco in the driveway.

I then started wheeling in something other than my Jeep - ALL THE WASTED YEARS! LOL

Some areas with water restrictions won't allow you to hand wash. My area this past year has had extreme water restrictions & have kept them in place. Plus it is hard to wash a vehicle when it is 30 or 40 degrees.

When I had my S-10 Xtreme I was only about 4-5 inches off the ground and actually did get stuck getting out of one of these washes a couple times. My tire held the lever down and as I went to drive off, the tire rolled off the lever and it popped up and caught my side skirts. DOH! Luckily that time I was able to pull out backwards. Second time I had to get my wife to get out and hold the lever down as I drove out hahaha :D

There are new carwashes that do not harm your paint. Around here they are popping up everywhere. $4 carwash with free vacuum. Plus they recycle the water.
Here is an example of one: http://www.quickspacarwash.com/

I've been using these for years. When I meet someone asking about my truck. They are shocked it is an 05 & so shiny.

I'm out towards Athens on 316. 20 minutes from Athens & 45 minutes to Atlanta(where I work, DOH!) The whole area Atlanta, Metro Atlanta, & booming counties were heavily restricted this past year.

I did it when I would get home at 5:40am. Also a trick around the restriction. Have a landscaper plant a small amount, maybe a couple hundred worth. Then they get a permit for you for 10weeks of watering. And you can water eveything. My builder does this during restrictions on houses he is trying to sell. If the permit runs out, he gets the landscaper to plant some more for another permit.

Hey I wish I could wash my car by hand in the winter. Simply impossible, I have thought about running a hot water line to a old shower mixing valve through my garage but my garage is not insulated nor heated. I considered piping it so I cold then drain lines each time but then it would be just a big mess. Only solution is to use the carwash especially a few days after 14" of snow drops and the salt spray and road grime are all over the car.

So for the Southern Folks that have never lived through a New England winter we sadly NEED to use a carwash on occasion.
