I'm going to call Toyota corporate and see if I can get a better resolution to this. I'll update after I talk to them.

    Don't settle for that Corolla!
Give um hell and demand a truck cause you need it for work! Fk them ! They just trying to cheap out on all the monies spent to Enterprise! It's not the dealers dime it should and I believe will be corporates dime but a hassle for the dealer.
    Good luck

I received the recall for my rear springs in my 2nd gen a year and a half ago. It took about a year to get another letter saying parts were now available. Finally got it done a couple weeks ago - amazing how much better it rides!!

If they are going to do the right thing then they will do something about the engine/transmission disaster too.

If no leak is present they will check the torque on the diff. If a leak is present they will check fluid amount and if it is not low to a certain amount a new gasket and bolts will be installed. If fluid level is lower than a specified amount a new set of gears will be installed. This is what I was told from an insider to Toyota. It's not like the rear will just grenade for no reason.

So I have been hearing "clunking" when I switch gears to reverse. It's been on going for about 2-3 weeks. When I am shifting to park as soon as I release the brake pedal I more often than not hear a "clunk" or "pop" sound. It comes from the back end. I take that's the rear diff acting all wonky? I'm going to look under my truck for leaks too. I am not bummed out though. The Toyota recall will repair this 100% right? Like the wear from the I'm defective parts won't affect my vehicles life after it gets the new parts installed, correct?

That is why they have a 3/36 bumper to bumper warranty. I will take mine in if a lightbulb goes out.

mine was seeping slightly and they torqued the bolts and sent me on my way also, they said since they did this, if it comes back then they will replace the gasket and the studs...

strange how they're all different. My dealer said ANY sign of weeping and
you need the fix - gasket & new bolts at minimum.

and I guess I need to continually look at the rear axle for any additional seepage...sounds like a side effect for all those drugs out there....lol

Frontier is like the Tundra to me. Outdated, poor gas mileage, but powerful, proven and reliable.

I noticed mine leaking a few weeks ago on my 2016 SR 4 cylinder. I have 33,250 miles on it and the nuts were kind of loose. So i took the torque wrench and re-torqued the 14mm nuts to 33 ft. lbs and wiped the oil off with brake cleaner then about a week later it started to seep again....... So idk what I'm going to do, no letter for a recall yet but defiantly not taking it in and having them keep the truck for a few months. I need the truck on a day to day basis!

Call em and wait for parts, that's what I'm doing. I ring the SA weekly
and ask about any updates....when the parts are in and they can do the work
and have it back same day, I'll take mine in.

I didn't get the recall letter. I checked the VIN#, but the truck isn't on the recall list. Sure enough, I checked my rear diff today and found some seepage around my rear diff. I am scheduled for the 15,000 checked up this coming Saturday. Let's see what they will say about the rear diff seepage. I'm not gonna let them keep my truck at the dealer for 6 months for sure :fingerscrossed:
