Picked up my new Access cab 4x4 5spd 2009, few days ago. The dealer put on 265/75r16 tires and 16x8 moto metal wheels before I drove it off the lot. Now I have a shaky steering wheel and the pass seat shakes if I go above 60mph... My mistake was never test drove the truck with the stockers on past 55mph.... Ideas????

Maybe... The tires were off and got swapped around yesterday for the TSB and everything still feels the same..... I will take it back next week for another re balance, but it seems some members here fight some sort of shaking issue above 60ish....

And BTW the spring TSB is the best thing a car company has done for its customers since the model T was offered in another color then black. And yes got it done on my 2009 with 80 miles on it, no hassle....

see if they put any balancing weights on the out side of the rims's. when i had mine first done they only balanced my tires by putting weights on the inside because then they are not visible but i took it back and said i didn't care because you can get a much better balance if you have them balanced on both sides. might wanna check that

Good luck man. I hope it is just a balance issue. Mine isn't and it is a pain in the ass.

Yes I have same issue above 65mph. Going to dealer Sat. Shop forman says only a balance issue. We shall see Sat. 09 with 900 miles.

What rims do you have? Steel wheels OR what?

I bought my taco about a month ago. Had the same problem. Brought it back twice now, the problem is still there (Not as bad as it was though) , but I can live with it. Smithtown Toyota in LI NY Sucks. They scratched my rim and center cap, they replaced them. But they had the car for 3 days to fix that...and like I said it still isn't right. Just don't have the time or the patience to call these morons back.

Any shops in your area that do a "high speed" balance? Most take the wheel off the car and put it on a balance machine but it doesn't always work well. We've sent people to get a high speed balance many times but there was only one shop in our area that did it. If you get a high speed done and it still shakes then its definitly something else.

Picky cars ie Mercs and BMW's are extremely picky with balance issues and can have problems with cheaper tires due to the tires being "out of round"

Are all of you guys lifted?

It sounds like it's tire balancing issues. We hear so much about the lifts causing the shakes but maybe it's just poor balancing?

I am not lifted. No work done to the suspension. One thing that has me thinking though...My truck was in the show room. When I brought it home there was a bee's nest in the driver side mirror. Makes me think that the truck was sitting for a while, Maybe the tires are not perfectly round from sitting in the same spot for so long. I have 800 miles on it now, would think that they would have fixed themselves...Only notice it happen between 63-68 mph. Once I go faster than that the little vibration goes away.

    Amen to that!

That's what i did and now im good. Used this link to find a place nearest to me that has a ROAD FORCE BALANCER

Also i think what some people are not paying attention to when buying new aftermarket wheels, is whether the wheels are lug centric or hub centric. Our hubs are hubcentric so of course go with a hub centric wheel.

What is the difference between the two? Sorry, but I am not the sharpest knife in the drawer.

    TIA

One is centers around the hub and the other centers around the lugs.

Also if you find a Road Force Balancer in your area ask and make sure they have that lug centric adapter (sorry i forget what it's called) for their balancer.

Im running the Moto Metal 951's..... and a 265/75R16 tire. They can't stick weights on the outside, just on the inner lip and in the middle...
