Toyota already debuted the 3.5 turbo.

I'd imagine that, due to the modular global platform initiative that most, if not all , of the turbo assembly just bolts on to the NA 3.5.

Mmmmmmm, yumm. I've also come to the conclusion, those who cry against Turbos, just don't have the money, or wife permission to get one.

Oh most definitely, just poor or pussy whipped.

Seriously, WTF. How bout, just don’t see the fucking need? Or, just don’t want to waste money on something not needed. Oh and by the way, most that really have money, spend it wisely, and that’s why the have money.

I have the money, spend very wisely, but, I want more torque on the lower end, which Matt's Turbo kit is supposedly going to give us. I'm completely happy with the truck 3krpm and higher, but christ, don't sent to wind it out everytime I want to go off road, tow something, etc. My T4R Pro has plenty if low end and love it, but... It's an AT. :(

I was referring to your statement about those that don’t want a turbo.

You’re showing your colors again. It’s more like “I could FI my engine, but I won’t, because that’s as absurd as supercharging my John Deere” I have the I4. There are options because there is no simulated atkinson and this engine has been around for awhile. This engine, with this manual trans and this gear ratio- the truck has more than enough power to do what it was intended to do. But you’re super smart, and know better than Toyota and magnusson. These trucks just ARE NOT up to your power output standards (because let’s face it, unless you win hp/T bragging rights, what’s the point of owning a truck?) so why don’t you continue the r&d and solve this power “problem” ?

    Ahhh, that explains everything.

    Allow me to rephrase -
Says the guy lurking in SC threads who's logic is: "I bought a truck with a 4-banger; therefore, hp/T is stupid."

Here, let me try. I’m decent at this. “Says a Toyota pickup truck fanboy who GETS the purpose of these trucks, since day one, and a fanboy who has had more than a few Toyota pickups, and doesn’t try to make something into something it’s not”

    That’s better.

And I’m not lurking. Im in broad daylight my dude.

We get that you get it. You chose to buy a "mid-size" truck with a 4 cylinder because if they offer it than that's all everyone needs because "Factory". Anyone else who wants more responsiveness and power should've bought a "full-size". Nevermind that your "mid-size" 3rd gen Tacoma now weighs more than a "full-size" 1st gen Tundra that would've never made it off the showroom floor with a 4 cylinder.

Hey. I hear you. But I don’t believe you. To date I’ve driven all the configs in the 3rd gen. I understand the growth of the truck vs the OG pickup, 1st gen, and the behemoth 2nd and 3rd. I don’t know what trans you have. But my configuration with the updated 2tr and 5spd winds up perfectly fine and has no problems passing uphill at speeds I will not post here. Just... no complaints. As I said, I knew what it was, I was/am pleased with how it performs, and I would never burn the candle brighter with something that fundamentally should be used on a sports car. What this boils down to is that you might not like that I’m clowning on people who obsess over power, and that’s ok. I maintain that if POWER is your obsession, you chose poorly. Historically this truck has never been a bragging right. Ever. It’s only upside was that it was engineered to be damn near immortal, and some people (like you) make it their life mission to fuck that characteristic up by “engineering” shit to bolt onto it. I don’t mind what you do with your money, and if you succeed at it, that’s cool too. But I’m always gonna point out how comical it is, ESPECIALLY in this case, where everyone responsible for the developments seems to have scuttled the ship for reasons already stated in this thread. This may seem long winded, but I want you to know that I don’t think YOU are stupid. I just think the idea is ten different kinds of idiotic.

Are you just in this thread to tell people they can't do what they want with their property? "Plenty of power" is subjective. You want a truck just like Toyota designed it? Fine. Others want to modify theirs? Also fine. How does any of this thread affect you and your life? Just move on, and let the people who want to talk about adding power to their truck, talk about adding power to their truck.

Fair. Except this thread isn’t about people who want to explore how to and source parts for turbocharging/supercharging. This thread seems like it’s just a declaration of product abandonment. So essentially, it’s a freeforall on a message board, as in, this isn’t “the supercharger” thread. This isn’t that discussion, and you’re gonna get points from all sides. I think OVtune for the 2.7 is dumb. But I don’t go in THAT thread to drop turds (not regularly anyway, and certainly with no malice, even if I did) but I will talk some shit in this thread (also no malice) because yes, while you’re free to do what you want to do with your property, some of us are free to wonder why the fuck you’re doing it to what you’re choosing to do it to. You don’t have to respond. But if you want to engage in conversation on a message board, well, that’s the point.

I could not of stated it more eloquently than that. The Tacoma is what it is, for better or worse. If you need more power, and you just might actually NEED more power, than the Tacoma is not the right vehicle. It's that simple.
