You can see the part that hit on my truck is not that big of a area. He said I rear ended him but the part on my truck is on the side. If I would have rear ended him my front would be all bent up. His back bumper was broke but not from me. I think he is just trying to fix his car. To me it looks like he was rear ended

Why wouldn't they? The sensors are on the frame of the truck not the bumper.

 

Wouldn't the likelihood of a bent frame increase with a steel bumper? I'd rather have a bumper replaced than a bent frame.

Dont know, just wondering. So even with the bumper like that and a head impact, the bumper will not crush, but the airbags will still go on?

 

I would think the force wouldn't be localized but spread out? But it would depend on the force? And think about the deer we have around here. Easier to clean the bumper than call insurance to replace a bunch of stuff?

 

Yes. It doesn't use crushing power but the force of the impact to the truck. It's like ur curtain airbags. It's not crushing/ force but the lean over position.

 

It does but only by so much. In most cases, it'd be the same outcome with or without a full front bumper but there are definitely some cases where the front frame rails get bunched up because of all the force going directly to it. It'd likely be a pretty nasty wreck in that case and you'd have loads of damage up front without a big bumper but you might not have a bent frame.
