So, I had enough of crappy Entune. I liked my Nissan Connect for the one year I regretfully owned a Rogue between my 2nd and 3rd gen Tacoma's. But one of the few things Nissan is superior on (in my humble opinion) is Nissan Connect. (The other thing, btw, is the door locks that don't require multiple touches between locking/unlock... But enough on that).

I highly doubt anyone will even care about the post so I won't go into details of this pain in the ass, but after buying and returning harnesses, brackets, and antennas, and a bit of soldering and dremeling, I've got it working.

It's a 2014-2018 Nissan Sentra/Versa nav system. Also seen is my wireless charging ram mount I built. It's powered by USB I soldered into the harness of the radio.

Anywho, here it is. Roast me.20180719_213345.jpg

Edit: I should explain that no aftermarket head units record SXM, at least none that Crutchfield, SXM, and myself have found. All I wanted was the luxury of being able to rewind satellite radio and be able to skip or replay songs.

Edit 2: It turns out people weren't very knowledgeable about aftermarket head units and XM recording capability. If anyone else also likes that capability, the $35 XM adapter that's used for most head units can do it as long as it's an XM ready, not XM installed, head unit. Well it was a fun project anyway.

Why the hell wouldn’t you just get an aftermarket unit?

Legitimate question. Literally the only thing I wanted was a head unit that does SXM correctly where it's constantly recording. What that does is every time I change the station it plays at the beginning of the song instead of the middle, and I can always go back 40 minutes even on a station I wasn't on. Same as the SXM units. I called SXM, Crutchfield, and carious AV stores and they all said there are no aftermarket units that do that.

My kenwood DNX in one of my old trucks could do that.

Well now I'll be looking into that. I asked at least 10 places and none knew of any. Neither did SXM although they want you to buy their radios so who knows. Their higher tier support said they make deals with other car manufacturers but not aware of aftermarkets that do it. I think Chevy, Cadillac, and Lexus or Mercedes or someone like that all does the same, but those units are all awkward shapes and hard to fit into the Tacoma. Thanks for the heads up.
