My only complaint about my G26 is the plastic trigger.
    It feels cheap.
Springfield got THAT part of the XD right.

I have 8 different glocks which I bought over the years after trying many different handguns and owning a few different ones myself. I like the fact that every time I pull the trigger they all go bang, doesn't matter if there clean or if the ammo is crap they just work. I bought them to preform a function not to be a safe princess.

I wouldn't say I'm a fan of Glocks but I'll always own a few of them. If the shit ever does hit the fan it's nice to know that my G23's and a couple different barrels and mags I can shoot different ammo. Plus being able to only need a few spare parts and a ball point pen I can repair it easily without needing a YouTube video on how to disassemble it like I would on my XDm. While my XDm fits me better, is just as reliable and I'm a better shot with it I'll only put Glocks and .357's in my bug out bags.

FOR THE PRICE, i think its the best pistol on the market. With that said, just spend an extra $100-300 (depending on area) and buy a Springfield XD-M.... Much better pistol

This comment makes no sense at all. At my work we have 3 XDms and a few XDs for rent. EVERY sight has either broken or completely fallen off the Springfields. The XD 9 has at least one malfunction for each person that rents it. You CAN say that XDs fit better. But to say that they are better guns is simply not true. With that said, I like them both.

You know that almost all bullets are made out of lead right?

Ive put close to 60k rounds through my XD-M just this past year due to it being my duty weapon, it gets used daily, never had any sort of issue like this..... this is also with reloaded casings (range ammo/training ammo, aka complete crap). Anything you take care of will take care of you, and I trust this weapon with my life. I cant comment or speculate on how the rentals were treated, but if they were treated anything like how I treat a rental car with the added $6 insurance, its not pretty....

.:edit:. I take 1 thing back.... the only issue i have with it right now, is the pin that you press out of the XD-M to put the different grips on it is very rusty from the rain, snow, dirt and mud that it has came in contact with.

I agree. I'm not for or against the Glock (people can buy whatever they want), but the video is indeed funny.

    that's 165rds a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, i call BS LEO or not

not that that's impossible to do in a year but if you buy your 9mm in bulk (just assuming it's a 9mm) that'd be about $11,000/yr, i just have a hard time believing that

glad you like your XD, i think they're good guns too

Mine was a lemon... It would not fire a whole mag with an FTF. I had the Glock rep for my area come and inspect it with me at the range. He replaced every part of the gun and it still wouldnt eat a whole mag. They gave me a new one that worked and i turned around and sold it.

This perfectly illustrates something I pointed out a few months ago.
Every 21 year old runs out and buys a Glock (THERE BADASS!(sic)) because they grew up playing video games and they HAVE to have something that looks like the video game weapons they were playing with. (see over-accessorized AR15 for further proof)
As they mature (some never do), they find out there are other weapons with more character, quality, and more desirable characteristics.
That's why the world is littered with second-hand Glocks that are depreciated by 20% or more....You don't see that with a quality 1911, Sig, HK.
Anybody that buys a new Glock just does it to say they bought a new Glock.
Goes bang, high capacity, no other interesting attributes.

Disagree. I bought my first Glok to test out, and see what I thought. I hated them from the get go. Thought they were over hyped, marketed, and ugly. After about 100 rounds, I began to see the apeal. It was accurate, reliable, nice trigger, and very pointable. from the on, I have owned 7 or so.....And loved every one. Your statement would dictate that many militarys/LEO branches are all staffed by video game playing kids who know nothing about what makes a decent fire arm.

I have a custom 1911 I love. I love the feel of my 1911 over my Glock, and its prettier and more manly, oozing testosterone and every time I break it out, hot chicks show up from miles around. That said, I carry a glock on duty as do the majority of law enforcement agencies.

The reason is its simple and reliable. Bottom line. It goes bang every time and there is nothing to learn or steps to be taken to operate. (Outside of basic marksmanship which is needed for every firearm Glock or otherwise)

Can't have failure to feeds when your livelyhood depends on that round leaving the barrel. Less parts to break or malfunction and a Glock will take more abuse.

The learning curve of a glock is certainly simple when compared to many other firearms as well. Point and pull the trigger, no thumb safety no grip safety no decoccking lever etc... This is important considering the wide variety of men and women being trained and once trained, their own motivation to continue training.

This is a point many people like to argue, saying with training you can be just as fast and proficient with any weapon system. This is true but the problem is in practice it fails. If you take an academy class of 75 eager recruits all with different backgrounds and ability to learn, the glock is just easier to train, it is. There is limited time to train and limited time to practice and limited time to get and stay proficient.

Outside of qualification shoots, many people NEVER fire their gun, is that wrong? Yes, but its still fact so you have to train to the lowest common denominator.

I'm not here to argue one gun being better than another, thats a personal choice but there are valid reasons Glocks are chosen over any other weapon system in the world and if those reasons were not valid then it wouldn't be Glocks on the hips of practically every man and woman in the US and abroad with a badge.

    Here is a little info:

"Glock reports sales of over 2.5 million handguns in over 100 countries.
Glock sidearms are very common handguns among law enforcement agencies and military organizations around the world. They are standard-issue sidearms for the Austrian, Belgian, Dutch, and Norwegian Army and Northern Irish police forces, various special units such as the German GSG 9 counter-terrorism unit of the German Federal Police, Specialist Firearms Command of the London Metropolitan Police Service as well as the new Iraq security forces.

Many estimates place Glock's market share among U.S. police departments at over 70% (based on total number of guns sold, not percentage of departments). Glock's website states their pistols are "...in use in 65% of law enforcement agencies." The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation issues all agents graduating from the FBI Academy a Glock 22 or Glock 23 according to the agent's preference.[3] As well, .40 caliber Glock pistols are issued to all new agents of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.[4] All Australian police services apart from the South Australian Police and Victoria Police use Glock handguns. Glock pistols are also issued to Australian Customs officers,[5] and the South Australian Police Force is currently examining whether or not to replace their current stock of .357 Smith & Wesson revolvers with a Glock model.[6]

The New Zealand Police carry the Glock 17 in situations where weapons are issued. The demand for Glock pistols is such that despite the European Union enforcing an arms embargo against Israel, Glock 17s and Glock 19s are standard service pistols in certain Israeli military and paramilitary units (Yamam, Shayetet 13, Shabak, and private security firms) and remain extremely popular handguns on Israel's private citizen market."

So love em or hate they are the predominate choice for people who use guns for a living.
