I have 5 Glocks, including my issue G17. Dont like them? Buy a Springfield, S&W, etc. Hell, buy a Hi-Point if that makes you happy. To each their own. My Glocks, like all 5 Toyota's I have owned over the years, have never failed me.

There is a reason about 65% of professionals carry Glocks. They go bang everytime. They are mechanical and therefore subject to failure as anything else. As dozens of others have said: If you don't like em, move on and save the crying for when your $1200 1911 breaks down.

Got a buddy who carried a Glock on duty for a few years, then he bought himself an expensive 1911 from a VERY well known respected gunsmith. First shooting he got into, it failed, luckily there were multiple officers on scene and he came out ok. He carries his glock again.

I like 1911's but I see a whole lot of people on here who don't carry a gun for a living talking about things only people who dont carry guns for a living care about, like how pretty it is.

My 2nd Gen G23 was my first pistol. Figured it would be the most reliable thing for me as a Newbie to pistols, sorta like training wheels. Almost 5,000 rounds later it is still one of the most reliable firearms I own.

That being said, IMO it is like a honda civic. Damn cheap, seriously easy maintenance and if you treat it poorly it will still get the job done. But it is still one of the most common beaters out on the market.

Do I like to shoot my glock as much as my FNX, CZ75b or P229?? Hell no. Will it get the job done just as effectively as any of the others? You betcha.

Sorry. Just hear people bitching about this topic at the local range too often.

I love guns. Love shooting almost all of them.... Except for some of those damn "going to Alaska" guns. They make your wrists feel like you've been bull riding.

Look, pistols were never designed as a primary combat firearm...they're sidearms plain and simple...made for self defense when all else fails. Now, for the vast majority of citizen gun owners pistols will be the only weapon they ever have to use to defend themselves and / or their loved ones. Thankfully we live in America and (like the video) there aren't a lot of gun fights on the streets these days. So, choosing your sidearm should be a matter of both comfort and reliability. There are dozens of manufacturers that offer outstanding sidearms. However, any responsible gun owner and every CCW should experiment with the gun they put their trust in. Experiment with different rounds, different holsters, different magazines, etc. and find what works...with the absolute minimal occurrences of problems. I have several pistols that I rely on but, they all serve different purposes and I carry them at different times. The most important thing is that you become comfortable and proficcient with your pistol...at the end of the day it doesn't matter if that's a Glock, M&P, XD, USP, EMP, LWC, Sig, etc. I personally love my Glocks, but I also love the EMP I carry almost every day. One person's complaints are another person's favorites.

I have grip tape on my slide. I can rack it with the rear sights just fine.

I love Glocks! I have a Model 21 and a Model 23. I just can't get into 1911's. No doubt, they are great guns. They just don't seem great for me.

Carry one in the chamber, fire til empty, replace with full mag, fire til empty, repeat as needed. Never have to rack slide. If target is still a threat you are FUBARed anyway.

I have rarely heard even Glock haters say they hate them because there are too many malfunctions. And if you don't use the slide lock as a slide release then you have probably practiced enough, and / or, have enough hand strength to rack the slide like most competent handgun users anyway. I was writing primarily (though a bit snidely too) to the Glock haters, not those of us who appreciate a Glock for being a quality slimline weapon, as obviously yo do.

IT LIVES! Im surprised this thread has lasted so long without turning into a shitstorm. Usually the Glock fanboys go nuts when someone disagrees with them on the sanctity of their beloved sidearms.

Speaking of fanboys, the Glock crowd really reminds me of the iPhone crowd. Both worship their purchases like deities. And like any religious wacko are willing to start a pointless war about who's purchase was better. Interestingly enough, the Glock battle is usually fought with the 1911 guys, and the iPhone battle is fought with the Android guys (lets face it RIM is dead and WP is a joke). Do you guys see the correlation? With the Glock and iPhone what you purchase is what you get, you cant really change anything. I guess you have some choices but for the most part you are stuck. With the 1911 and Android you have an amazing set of choices. You can set ether up however you like. Interesting.

Anyway, I really dont have a problem with ether the Glock or the iPhone. They just arnt for me. I just cant stand either of their outrageous fan clubs.

I guess I wasnt clear. I dont use them because of the ergonomics and cheap feel to name a few. Those arent a problem for me cuz i choose not to own one. But I still think they are a fine pistol. Hows that response? Satisfactory?
