I 've used the sticky traps but can't find any of them later. Even some of the victor snap mouse traps have walked away. Got these several of these JT Eaton jaw'z plastic mouse and rat traps...they work really well.....the rat/chipmunk ones are killer.

Make sure their feral cats....domestic house cats are too lazy. Feral cats worked great here, but my bird loving neighbors put an end to a good thing calling in the animal control officers.

Years ago I was driving my 4Runner and heard paper rustling. Opened the glove box to find a mouse chewing on a cough drop through the paper.
Today I pulled a towel off a shelf in my garage and got shit-whipped by the turd covered towel. I hate mice as well.
Loud noises work well too. Leave a radio on while at work if you can. Disturbs their sleep, scares them off.

I'm an exterminator by profession. My recommendation would be not to put moth balls in your engine bay. Your A/C will smell like it for weeks. Get a few multi-catch traps like the image below. Place them on either side of entry doors and place a single snap trap on top of it. The little bastards will run immediately for the safety of the trap "black hole" door and get stuck. It'll hold about a dozen mice. The snap trap on top is for the "caboose" of a group. If you have 3 or more mice running in a straight line, the last mouse in the group will recognize the first two getting stuck in the multi-catch. That mouse will try to jump over the multi-catch and will hit the snapper. FYI, if you get a group of mice and don't have a snapper, it'll be a pain in the ass to catch that ONE mouse that knows what the traps do. Happens much more than you may think.

    My two cents.

BTW, if you catch mice in the multi-catch trap and they are still alive when you find them, don't let them go. They will come right back and avoid the traps in the process. You gotta whack them or leave them in there a couple more days before you clean it out.

If you have a significant issue with mice in your garage regularly, then put out bait stations outside. In the summer they will pilfer the stations for food and usually not try to scavenge in a structure. If you have an aversion to rodenticide, use a bait that is cholecalciferol. It is a bait that doesn't have a transfer effect to wild animals that may eat a rodent that ingested rodenticide.

There's a whole slew of info and methods for controlling rodents. Feel free to ask away.

I had a mouse get cozy in the Runner a couple summers back while I was out camping. Came home and took everything out. Wiped the interior down with Lysol. Set traps in the car every night for a couple weeks and never caught a thing. I also got some peppermint and sawdust packets I found at the hardware store thats supposed to keep them away. Change those out every month or so. The smell is actually nice, not overwhelming like mothballs would be. Never had another problem with them again. Maybe I got lucky.

Get a cat. Better yet, get a neighbors cat and borrow it for a few hours. The smell will keep the mice away for a loooong time

When i owned a tundra i had mouse issues storing hickory nuts way inside the hood through the tiny openings. Tried everything to get them out....outside of cutting open the hood. Those nut would rattle in there for years...and you wonder why i get so obsessed with mice.

I was quoted a ~$5K to replace the main harness (15 hr labor). I've been getting jerked around at the dealership and when I pressed I was told that a "master tech" would get on it as soon as insurance approved and he'd have it done in a day. Can someone tell me by looking at the pictures below what I'm looking at? I've only had the hood up twice in the month that I've owned the truck. 2020 SR, 4cyl, 4x2.

    Damn mice.

I would say cat, but not everyone’s situation is the same.

Never really been a cat person until recently. Now I have three “outside” cats. We bring them inside to play, but they want outside in no time.

Dogs like mice, voles, pocket gophers to snack on. Mine eats several a day.

Please do not use poison. The rodents get sick and then the neighbors cat, dog, hawk, owl, etc eats it and dies.

I just got some live traps....when they capture some will drive them to some remote field a few miles away.

Sorry, I know it was a rodent of some sort. We are overrun with squirrels so that is the likely culprit. I was wondering if the $5K bill (15hrs of labor) is warranted or what might actually be involved in the repair. It seems to me like there is pretty easy access to the parts.

This is not true of all poisons. That is why I recommended a bait with cholecalciferol. Most second generation anti-coagulant baits used as rodenticide do have transfer effect but it's VERY minimal. Most secondary poisoning occurs from bait that is improperly secured which allows a non-target animal to eat it.

Just make sure it's over 30 miles away. Mice can travel approximately 30 miles if desperate to get to babies or nest.
