If everyone is tall and you have 4 kids, plus the taco is mas money…I vote Tundy. I’m 5”9 and I could see the taco being cramped for someone tall. I also know courtesy of the select few passengers I’ve had in the backseat of my taco that it is not exactly a roomy backseat area. By that I mean you can barely fit a single full sized adult back there comfortably.

Oh and I have a double cab.

Disclaimer: I absolutely love my taco and would buy the exact same one in a heartbeat. The difference for me is I’m average height and have 0 kids.

Sounds like you need low mileage 2021 Tundra.

Yeah, I don’t want more than one passenger, and most kids just destroy everything they touch.

With a Tacoma and 4 very tall kids, your second better be a Suburban or you’ll need a third vehicle, because the Tacoma rear seats are nearly useless.

Only you can figure out your priorities. You're currently holding a mixed bag, and no, you can't have it all.

Raw finances. Going from 86k to 1.5k and from a '14 to a '22 for 5k is a no brainer. IF they both meet your needs. You're basically buying 84k miles and 8 years for 5k.

Your big problem is apples and oranges. You can't have fruit salad here. It's one or the other.

Could it be that what you really want is in conflict with what you know you need, and you’re hoping to get feedback encouraging you to get what you want?

I've owned both. Currently have a 6 speed tacoma, had a 2nd generation tundra previously. They are too different to compare.

The tundra was huge, loved the giant interior. The gas mileage was a joke and a main reason I sold it. The power was incredible though, fast and could tow anything.

The tacoma is slow. But the 6 speed makes it fun in a different way. It's also tiny inside. We (4 kids also) aren't big people and it gets cramped fast.

Dear Toyota, please make a 6 speed tundra so I can have the best of both.

What about a used Sequoia? Do that and a utility trailer, and you’ve got a combo that’s more versatile than a Tundra and fits in most garages a lot better.

Sounds like what you really want is a 6spd MT. Sounds like you don't really need a truck. If I'm being honest, I'd say neither of these vehicles is for you, unless you just want to buy something.
I'm with a few others here - you haven't really indicated what you're really looking for.

Also, possibly, your mistake was starting out your post with "I hate posts like these..." and expecting a different kind of response than what you've received already. Do you want other people making decisions for you with incomplete information? Because that's how it's ultimately coming off.

I would say tundra for the family sake.
I never planned my Tacoma to be a family truck for me personally and bought it when I was single. I know plenty of people make it work and that’s great.
the tundra ‘old’ body style is only 2 years behind the 3rd gen. Some new parts and headlights can make it look like a 21 so not so old for under $1k with OEM parts.

If people were truly honest, logical, and emotionless about cars, 99% of us would be driving base model Civics, Camrys, or Elantras.

Truck is cool. Maybe one day I'll buy a bag of mulch and haul it in my truck bed. Just have to make sure it clears underneath the bedrack with four empty jerry cans strapped to it and the tent that I hope someday to talk the wife into letting me use one weekend.

Manual transmission should trump everything. What’s he actually asking for the truck and how is it equipped? It may seem like a deal but when you start looking not so much. A loaded up TRD OR can be had for low $40’s so if his first number starts with a 4 forget it.

I'm not paying a marketing adjustment on a Camry. They do look nice though, I think you are also obligated to have children once you drive a sedan.

No brainer for me - 2022 or new 2023 Tacoma double cab versus the much older Tundra.

He’s trying to determine between two trucks but hasn’t listed what he needs to use them for. Home Depot runs? Tacoma. Towing? Tundra.

My guess is his family would better fit in the Tundra (meaning it would fit his needs better) but he wants the Tacoma. Hence why he’s here.

Fair. I said towing isnt something thats a factor at all, but, yes, Home Depot runs, light hauling, etc. I'll probably go Tacoma, and I agreed, probably was just looking for affirmation on that choice.

    Thanks guys.
