A little of this and a little of that.
1800-0600 for me also. I work a two week rotation, every other Fr-Sa-Su off. Been doing this for about six years. I think it's better than five eights or four tens.

Going to make sure that mattress doesn't float away on me.

10 pm to 7 am -- 8 nines and 1 eight (10 pm to 6 am) every two weeks. Sun/Mon night and every other Tue night off. Every other break is 3 day vs 2 day.

Love the schedule...and being just a worker bee....after 26 years on active duty with the last 11 years of it in various superintendent roles...I don't miss the management stuff/headaches at all. Steer clear of most, if not all the drama...do my job and go home.

I did swing shifts for ten years, 2 days of 7AM to 7PM, 24 hours off, followed by 2 days of 7PM to 7AM, then four days off. Repeat for ten years. Plant closed last year, took me a while to get into a "normal" sleep routine.

I just got OFF the night shift after 1 year and 5 months. It was fun for awhile (about the first 2-3 months), working at my own pace, no supervision, etc, then it became more of a fight for survival. I worked 7pm-7am on Thurs, Friday, and Saturday. So that is 3 back-to-back-to-back 12-hour compressed shifts. Talk about the ultimate test on your mental stability and physical capability. Health deteriorated quickly, was more stressed because when you intentionally sleep deprive your body and alter its natural sleep cycle it goes into survival mode, which also lowers your body's immune system and its ability to fight off viruses. I gained 15 pounds, was sick more frequently usually minor flu-like symptoms, developed gastric intestinal issues, frequent mood swings, short-tempered and easy irritability, and insomnia during the day. I was able to adjust after about 6 months, but after a year it started to take its toll on my mental state and health. THANK GOD someone in my dept. made a lateral move to another which freed up a day spot for me. Pretty much did it because it is a great company and the pay was premium for 3rd shift. Although I did take a slight paycut, I am healthier and happy than I was while working nights. God Speed to those still on it...

My schedule varies daily. I am a network tech for a wireless phone company so sometimes a condition or alarm will require a site visit at night to go troubleshoot.

Normally, I work 7:30-4 but some days I work 4a-12n and sometimes 11pm-8am.

Coffee is key - not only for staying awake but for keeping the BM's constant

Just getting in the rack right now, 5:30p-5:30a four days, off three, 5:30a-5:30p three days, off one, back on nights for three, off three, four days, then LONG BREAK, seven straight days off EVERY month. That's the only thing that keeps me there, love the week of vacation every month.

Check my build thread...too much to list.
Midnight-12 all day everyday...Only thing good is I escape the heat during the day.

edit: Most of my career in the AF has been nights. I've done 2300-1100, 2000-0800, 1500-0400. I can honestly say about 80% of the 6 yrs I've been has been night shift.

not a graveyard shift for me but 630pm-2am closing shifts at In-N-Out sure do feel like graveyard shifts. If we had graveyard shifts until about 6am or so it would be HELL!
