so I ordered a DCSBTRDOR manual in mid September. it finally arrived early November but it was missing the tow package. long story short we had to order another one. from the time I placed the order to the time I got a build date was maybe 2 weeks. so since I reordered another taco in early November till now I still have yet to receive a build date. I call every couple days and they keep saying it has not been allocated yet and that we gotta keep waiting. and that the salesman cant do anything about it. so its been almost 6 weeks of waiting now just for a build date! any suggestions on what I should do? I was thinking about going to another dealer and making a 2nd order and seeing which truck comes in first.

Part of the instant gratification microwave generation huh?

    1) keep waiting, or

    2) cancel and buy an F150

Keep waiting. Slowly amass all of your accessory purchases. This makes it look like you barely spent anything extra on your truck.

FYI, I've been waiting almost 7 years since I sold my 2nd gen to pay for college. Waiting builds character.

I don't see why commonly featured trucks are needing this much build time like we haven't passed the release date of new model year months ago. Having to order a truck with what you want to the point people are and there not being enough already produced and on lots to find fairly reasonably with maybe some driving to dealer farther away if you are that picky just seems silly, like they don't wanna build any unless people order up. The phrase goes "If you BUILD IT, people will come" , not "people will come to pay and order then wait unreasonably for it to be built". I understand this to a point, but not to the extent of a lot of stories being posted. We are as close to the 2017 yr model release as we are past the 2016 release, there should be plenty of 16s on lots for people to just buy without having to make due with or place an order. I mean, c'mon, what are they stocking on lots, just base model everything? The purpose of the dealership is to have stuff to buy, why can't I just order directly from the factory if it's gonna be like this? The dealership becomes pointless other than being the delivery point and factory service center.

I waited over a year for the RIGHT truck. Drove home with it last night. If it's what you truly want it is worth the wait.

Then you shoulda got a big discount seeing as newer model stuff was coming out before you got yours. And yes, the wait being worth it is in the patience of the purchaser obviously.

Still, WTF is on the lots that this many people cannot just go buy something? This much being special order is just silly.

Wait for what you want. In the meantime search cars.com for exactly what you want on a regular basis. I almost settled for a quicksand dcsb, ordered a dclb a week later, and bought a dclb a week after then when one popped up in the Boston area. Hahaha, and a week later another popped up in Western Mass. They're out there, just search cars.com and set your filters to narrow down to exactly what you want.

You should have seen my MINI wait times in 2002. My Exige also has significant wait time

I hear ferraris are almost up to 19 months now

We Tacoma fortunate lucky with short wait times :)

it would cost the dealer thousands to install but to have it built at the plant is a $650 add on. even if the dealer said they would put it on there I wouldn't want it. its just not the same as the factory.

Also as a result of all these ordered 3rd gen, dealers are flooded here with 2nd gen

Except they are asking 3rd gen prices for some used trucks

Gotta love the benefits of living in the Bay Area. Pretty much anything you want is on a lot or short wait. Literally like 30 trucks within 15 miles of me waiting for new homes lol.

Reread what I quoted from your post, which was "We are as close to the 2017 yr model release as we are past the 2016 release"

I know I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but I read that as; "As of this posting, we are halfway between the '16 and '17 releases"

    Which we are not.

    Hence the 'wut?'

So please. Enlighten me on how I misread.

I placed my order on 10/09 DCORLB (Prem tech+JBL).
In Nov when Chris kindly ran the VIN#(maybe temp), the build date showed up as 12/23.

This wk will be 10 weeks of waiting & so far nothing, no updates from the salesman.
