I have a 2014 Tacoma, 6 speed manual, TRD, Factory tow Package,

I am about to purchase a travel trailer. I understand that I can tow up to 6500 lbs., the trailer is stock at 3800 lbs. with a max of 4500 lbs. Would this make good sense to purchase and will it make it up some of the mtn. passes in the west. It seems OK to me but I never towed before so I am looking for some one with more experience then I have. appreciate any advice out there.

 

I tow that much with my 1st gen just fine, so you should be even better... just make sure you get a brake controller setup.

i believe your engine matched up with that 6 speed will do well on mtn. passes too

 

I tow a 17' fully self contained travel trailer loaded with a generator and extra water in the bed and have no problem. I towed the same outfit with an '89 Taco V6 and a 97 Tacoma V6. All with 6 speeds. You'll do a lot of downshifting in the hills and mountains but the truck will purr like a kitten. Just don't lug it........
