The terminology has been updated since moonroofs first appeared in the early eighties.
Originally, sunroofs only slid open & did not tilt where moonroofs only tilted open. I've noticed that on all of the newer vehicles that do both, they call them moonroofs.

Between the moonsunroof convo and the Ford TRD ProSport Ranger this thread has all the content one needs.

There was a thread or two about a 17 Cement Pro with an aftermarket sunroof.

Real moonroofs come off to open them and you have to store them on your back seat if you want to drive around without them, and sunroofs were built in metal doors that slid open under the headliner.

I installed my own moonroof on my 1st car and it leaked like a spaghetti strainer the first time it rained because it didn’t have a gasket! :homer: doh!

Which one of you degenerates bro-badged a Sport then slapped a Ranger sticker on your tailgate in the first place? :bananadead:

    Lots, straight from the factory.
There is far more wiggle room in used cars than there is in new. New cars are invoice, and some holdback $$$. Rebates are where you can make a better deal on new. The dealer makes a good bit on the end of year volume sold. Bonus money from the manufacturer for volume.

Used is where the money is at. They take it in on trade at the NADa book price. Sometimes the KBB trade price. They sticker it for KBB retail and shave a few pennies. Add the doc fees and the kickbacks from the banks in the financing, and there is good money in selling used.

I am upgrading from a 2004 tundra ST5, it only goes up from there!

This Tacoma came with a few upgrades that help a lot with gas.

the first owner was a pro fisherman and had Ranger boats, so he put it on his Tamcoma before Ford came out with the new Ranger. He traded this Tacoma for a Ranger.

Still the guy doesn’t sound to smart, but he does make a living fishing for a living

so im confused and maybe i skipped over that part of the conversation..

what made you believe it was a trd pro?

    TRD PRO badges?

    TRD PRO grille?

Dealership listed it as a TRD PRO?

    all the above?

Not the case for Tacomas bud, whole different ball game then some Chevy Silverado that just got traded in. There's a reason people lean new more often then not. Most people can easily get within $1-3k of what the dealer is going to ask retail when trading their Tacoma back. The dealer will try to certify it or whatever in hopes of drawing in those who want that 7yr warranty or the ones who don't realize they can get more than $2k off a new one and will pay their asking price thinking they are saving over new.

The markup from what they paid trade in is maybe $1-4k and before you say otherwise, just look at trade in values on KBB and what people are getting in the 2017, 2019, 2020 thread for there traded in's (myself included on all my last 10 trucks), reason so many of us can trade every year, hardly any loss in value. They then will usually run it through the service dept to clean, fix issues, etc. That then costs them in service hours and the admin hours to complete paperwork, etc, eating into that already small margin giving them even less wiggle room. So even if they low balled the guy on trade in they have maybe $3k to play with before it eats into cost.

Now a new Tacoma they have all the way from MSRP to invoice (you assumed everyone pays invoice, which is not the case) which could be up to $4-6k and then dealer holdback another $800, plus whatever rebates they can play with that TFS kicks in for (dealer loses nothing, so right now that's another $1750 in their pocket plus whatever they sold the truck for over invoice)and if a high volume dealer whatever bonuses they get for moving inventory. So yes there is far more wiggle room and ability to negotiate on a new tacoma over used. Not my first rodeo bud.

Point is they probably gave the guy $21k for it, kbb was $21-24k trade in, the listed it for $26k, OP got it for $22k, dealer made $1k. As opposed to say he bought new for invoice. Dealer made $1750 rebate back from TFS and $800 holdback. Margins are slim on used tacomas and less wiggle room for dealers when all is said and done.
