I have a 5 made in Fremont, CA, however I might add that all of the composite beds, for all the Tacoma's wherever manufactured are made in Mexico. I really don't think the robots that build most of our Tacoma's really know or care what country they are in either.

I had asked a fleet manager where the trucks were made because I had seen them come across the border. He stated that the Tacomas rear bed is assembled in Mexico, BUT not the truck itself.

All the beds and some of the complete trucks are made in Mexico. ;)

Some more not so good news for US workers.

When I was looking to buy my Taco, I looked through a lot of used dealer listings. Carfax reports showed that vin's that started with a 3 were made in Mexico, 5's were Cali made. I noticed that dealers selling used Mexico Tacos were asking quite a bit less that dealers selling Cali Tacos. When I decided to buy my new 08, I specifically asked them to find me a Vin 5 (Cali) so my resale value would be higher when that time came. Dealer thought all Tacos were made in Cali and didn't realize the 3 -vs- 5 thing. If I were buying used, I'd probably want my car built in the U.S. rather than Mexico. That's might be just me. Hey the Volkswagons built in Mexico are the shits, I hear.

Didn't say the article was new, just out there to show that trucks are indeed made in Mexico.
The contract expires Aug. '09 per the article. The big 3 were jumping on the $700B bailout because of pension funds killing their profits. Of course the top management expect millions in salary.

I dont know what difference there is in whether a Tacoma is made in Mexico or USA.... the FACT is that the manufacturer is Toyota, which stands for its quality WORLDWIDE.... you are buying TOYOTA quality not American or Mexican or Japanese Toyota quality, if the people down here were not qualified to do the job i dont think toyota would have a plant....

now... of some of you are concerned about the quality of Mexican industries, be aware that here in Town we manufacture a lot of components for Airbus, Cessna, Bell, Boeing aircraft... so, you fdont want to ride in them now???

    I'm Thinking...Oh Yeah...An FJ
It's all in my head at the moment...

Ahhhhhh, Hecho is not a PLACE in Mexico like TJ or Cancun or Baja. "Hecho en Mexico" means "Made In Mexico". Hecho is "event, deal, etc". So your truck was "made" in Mexico. You wouldn't say it was "Detroited In Detroit".

How about that stereo? Made where? How about that AFTERMARKET stereo? Made where? You don't want outsourced parts in it but you will add them later? Hmmmmm......., Bet you Wally World Shoppers think that place bleeds Red-White-Blue. Watch the movie on Wal-Mart.

The glass might even be made in Canada....pretty big producer of auto glass. North America parts....US/Canada/Mexico.

No longer worth the effort to pick and choose. How about that computer that you are using to tell us all you'd make dam well sure your truck was produced in the US. Who you calling when that thing tanks...India.

    My oh my...

That's it, back to bed on my Egyptian sheets.
