Yep, and I just noticed it the first time the other day! Suprised it wasn't rattling more.

The increased MPGs and power might make it worth it. We've been fooled by "big air filter" for too long for making us believe we needed filtered air to make our engine run. Right up there on the level of scams of Enron, diamonds are a girl's best friend, and the earth is round.

That really does suck. Is any one competent any more , or they just don’t care . People pay big money for these vehicles and you would think they would at least go over everything.Did it do any damage? Hopefully not. Change the oil and see how it does for the next few oil changes . If the cylinder bores got damage from this it will burn oil . So pay attention to that. Bunch of jerk offs . You can’t trust anyone

Is this a good thing; absolutely not! But it ain't the end of the world either! I personally would change the oil, slap a new air filter in it and call it a day! These trucks are a bit tougher than many here think they are.

I would change oil, wipe filter box clean, install air filter, clean throttle plate valve, clean mass air flow sensor, and have a few beers afterwards. Don't forget to kick the tires and carry on the day.

A few additions to make me feel cool.
Think of all of the Toyota trucks running around the middle east with zero maintenance. 4 different size tires with some random weight of used motor oil and a rag as a filter. You will be fine.

If you drive about 50 miles in reverse it will push any contaminants that got into the engine back out through the intake plenum.

Its crazy. There should be law that forces dealerships to disclose if car was rental/lease before selling them

By the looks of how clean it is inside there I certainly wouldn’t worry.

I would pull the engine, drop the tranny and completely disassemble the vehicle and scrub each little part with a toothbrush, just to be safe.

Look closely at your MAF sensor (2 screws to remove) before you clean it………it will show you how much dirt you picked up without the air filter………

Based on how clean that airbox is, I would guess your truck has inhaled a lot of dirt. I agree with the others, pull off the intake and see what it looks like there. Change the oil for sure. Not much to do at this point besides sell it or hope for the best.

Pulled the filter box and intake tube off and cleaned them, the charcoal filter and the MAF today. Running my finger over things there was definitely a thin layer of very fine dust. Also threw a can of techron in the gas tank for good luck. Still need to change the oil.

Dude just change the oil and chuck a filter in there. You can't undo what's happened if anything at all. Life goes on, don't worry about the small stuff. ;)

Would highly recommend doing a BG oil system flush at the dealer or reputable 3rd party mechanic……….
It’s done under pressure, @$150/$200 BEFORE doing the oil change……….
