    Exactly what I was thinking.

I also got a great mental image from "shocked and frozen and still blowing the horn".

i hit some dude in my bronco years ago. he came running into traffic looking behind him, happened too fast i didn't hit the brakes until after i sent him a good 25'. I freaking freaked out, thought he was dead, he got up, stumbled and ran off. only damage to my bronco was a broken tab on the headlight that i was able to rig back together.

i bet the push bar didnt feel too good.

i dont know what he was running from, or if he was trippin, happened in like 20 seconds,

You hit a person and are more worried about you truck. That guy was someones son, brother , or dad. You should be thanking the good lord you did not kill him. In the eyes of the law you would be liable.

there i sat...16 years old wondering what the fk just happened

This guy was drunk and or high as shit, running through the street like he was trying to get hit. He could have robbed somebody hours before to buy a crack rock. How am I liable, I tried my best not to hit the asshole. Shut up.

    Thanks dude.

When I saw title I was thinking, your were working on the truck and your cylinder head happened to be cracked.

Glad nothing else came of the situation.

Haha! I'm glad most of you understand. My dad has hit 6 deer and a dog and wasn't liable for any of his damage. I'm not calling the bum a deer or a dog, but it was the same situation. I had no control over it. It was either try my best not hit him, which I did, or not slow down at all and not palm the horn and kill him. I could have slammed into a telephone pole or a tree while trying to avoid hitting him because of his dumbass actions.

anytime you hit a person you are liable so you shut up stop crying and fix your truck.I bet if someone ran one of your relatives over you be the first one bitching to sue. grow up, if you think a truck is more important than a person you are a dope. There is a thing called compassion and you should look it up in the dictionary because someone you love may need it someday.

been there done that.. but my incident was a sober guy just looking to sue, he jumped out at a right on red deal.. hit him at like 4mph? lays on the ground screaming " you be needin to call ambalance cuz my legs broke.. help help help i need xrays... help help call 911. well when the paramedics show up laughing he stands up and walks to the ambulance... i was scared i hurt him at first, but when reality set in i just wanted to kick his ass. but did no damage to the truck :) but a lot of drama and no sleep thinking some piece of shit is going to get everything i've ever worked for. but i guess thats what we pay the high insurance for.

just because the cop never said you were liable doesnt mean shit

everyone in this day and age of civil court and lawyers is liable for anything you do

you can be sued for absolutely everything...even if that something you did wasnt "breaking the law"

I don't think my truck is more important than a person, but I certainly believe it is more important than a crackhead!

And compassion? You think a crackhead is going to have any compassion when he/she is robbing your house for money to buy more crack? These people don't stop being a crackhead they get locked up or killed...and then they are out of the gene pool which is a good thing.

Something similar happened to my sister once in Atlanta. It was dark and the guy was dressed in all black. She was in a Maxima going about 35Mph. She said he appeared to brace for impact and wasn't hurt bad. According to the cops, the guy was a homeless drug addict and had done this numerous times before. He sued and ended up getting $5,000 from the insurance co. Most likely his lawyer got a couple thousand. Hell of a way to make a living!

I got an umbrella policy to supplement my auto for times such as this. It doubles my home owners for around $100/yr, if that at all. Protects you against idiots.
