Good to hear, I heard the drum brakes will last alot longer than the front brakes on the Tacomas

Man sorry to hear about your deer hit, hopefully the damage it just what was noted.
That is a good price on the fix, my recent mishap was $800 and it was really nothing.

Whats the point of insurance if you're going to pay out of pocket everytime? For the record, when I hit a deer in my last vehicle, it was covered under comprehensive and I did not experience a rate hike.

Reason being for paying outta pocket is that I'm a 16 year old driver who has had their licinse for alittle over 6 months and any damages to the truck and insurance pays for will jack the rates up especially with teen drivers

Well I have an update, I just now decide to take a closer look at my front end and found some more parts that need to be replaced or consider replacing and here they are:
    1. The front bumper does not look soo good on fixing it, theres a bulge in the bumper from i guess the mounts for the bumper, the black grill slit is cracked and twisted, the painted piece below the grill slit is well on the sides of that piece is cracking or showing signs of cracking and well you know when you bend any kind of plastic it turns white, well its doing that on the edges of that painted piece of bumper.
    2. The drivers side head light needs to be replaced cause I found a cracked on one of the mounts for it.
    3. This concerned me the most, my drivers side front wheel well is cracking and flaking, its like its shedding the outter layer and I'm not sure if that should be repaired, cause I think i saw a fracture on the wheel well.
    What do you all think?

Same here, I thought for sure if it was a little deer it would stay close to the bottom of the bumper and not hitting the grille like on your truck

same here..........three times total now..........not the Taco though................yet.
Insurance policies are different, but this should not apply because it's an act of nature, not a reflection of your driving habits.
Colin, make sure you or your dad talk to the insurance company and find out for sure. They may cover without repercussions if you are carrying comprehensive.

Sorry about the hit bro, at least my favorite grill is ok......I hope.;)

After I hit, I sure didn't expect to the amount of damage I saw!

The deer hit drivers side fender/light and then probably just "rolled"
across the front end after being knocked off it's feet and up.

Thanks dude, and if the price to fix my truck goes up then we may just have insurance get involved just for the heck of it. as for the grill, It seems to be fine, just a bit loose but im not sure how the body shop will take care of it when they take apart my front end :(

if you call the insurance company to find out how a claim like this affects your rate, you are not obligated to make a claim, they work for you and will do what you tell them to do.:D

oh, and I forgot to tell you, I already talked to the body shop manager and he said that they had to ship the grille to Indiana for inspection.

This might be worth doing getting the insurance company involved, but soo far it the price stays around 1100 then we will just pay outta pocket no big deal, but if it rises another grand cause they hadnt inspected the whole front end yet then we will probably bring in the insurance company. Indiana really? I know for sure the grille isnt busted or bent but i dont know about the mounting brackets, but i think the body shop has to replace the painted grille piece. If the grille is damaged a little they will try to fix it, they already told me they will try to fix my spot lights on the bull bar :)

Holy S#%t, that thing is a monster, I would like to get one of those bumpers like all-pro, but i finally showed my dad the all pro bumpers and he said he did nt like the look of it  so if i cant get a steel plated bumper then i might sell the bull bar when the truck is fixed and buy a brush guard

im going to echo Kilted Chicken's sentiments on getting an ARB

and add that I'd doubt that All-Pro's would stand up like the ARB did

the ARB is 3/16 steel...Allpro is only 1/8

All Pro sells the ARB on their site too
    quoted from AllPro's site
ARBs are designed to take on animals while crossing the Austrailian Outback...
