They bring in the team that designed the Venza. I was amazed at the styling inside that car. I would never have believed it was a Toyota if I just saw interior pictures. Major departure from the typical cheap looking boring Toyota design.

I have never worked for any car maker, but I would be pretty sure the "4th Gen" Tacoma design was started a few years ago, and most of the features, style, body work were most likely decided on a few years ago. I have always heard most manufacturers are about 5 years ahead in the design compared to when a "model year" actually hits the streets. I would think they are currently working on the model year 2027 or 2028 models right now.

I like the present Tacoma interior and don’t think it looks cheap, so I guess I’m unsophisticated or something.

    1-Let's go to Hardee's

It would be nice if they eliminated the foot of plastic and air in front of anything important so we could get a reasonable approach angle...3rd gens remind me of a 90s camaro.

My 1998 T-100, which I sold in 2018, had a much nicer interior than the 2018 Tacoma that replaced it. Padded vinyl, plusher carpet, denser seats. I imagine Toyota ditched those to save money and squeeze out another 1 mpg.

I hope they focus on drivability, reliability and ruggedness. Appearance should be second to those qualities. We are talking about a utility/offroad truck, not a commuter sedan... The buyer demand for nonsense is going to ruin this truck.

I need a cheap, simple and reliable vehicle. I somewhat doubt they are going that direction.

Not a fan of Hardee’s either…maybe I’ve eaten there once in last 20 years?
BUT for “Get in the truck, we're heading north”, yeah, totally on board there. Ain’t no real southerner ever uttered those words.

Most buyers are in the DC, and haul kids around half the life of the truck or more. The market want (plus government "involvement"), unfortunately, dictates direction. There is a reason even F-150S go near six figures now. At least Ford still makes rubber floor two-door work truck versions, though. Toyota still does sort of, but they gut the feature set options out of the work truck versions because of their manufacturing style.

i would like to see better assembly. the misaligned bed that is fairly common, the flattened exhaust pipe, and lack of sound deadening are really an embarrassment, or should be.

i can't believe no one said disc brakes in the rear.
