I dig the 3rd Gen dash styling. Keep the rugged design and big knobs in the 4th Gen and it'll look great. Steering wheel design could use an update. Seems like everyone is moving to the fully digital dash, but I prefer a mix of the two. Just give me some nicer leather and I'm a happy camper.

Turbo seems to be the way all the gas powered are going. The v8s are gone. Even the Land Cruiser (known only as a Lexus these days) is a turbo 6. I think the only Toyotas left with a v8 is the Lexus GX and the LC and the GX days are numbered.

    I drive a Miata.

I'm a 100% tactile switch person. Apparently I never matured past toddler stage. That's what I think I like about the Tacoma. Its all old-school switches, with ways to rearrange, add, or subtract the layout any way you want.

I do like the little screen in the dash to pull certain bits of information, but as far as touchscreens go, no thanks. Switches. The kind that go "clack." You just can't get that little tiny dopamine release from thumbprinting a flat pane of gorilla glass.

This. My Tacoma is my first vehicle with a touchscreen and I hate it. Every vehicle I've ever owned...after a week or so, I can find any button/knob I want and push/turn it without taking my eyes off the road. I know where it is, and when feeling around in the general area I can find it and push/turn it. Can't do that with a touchscreen. They're dangerous IMO because you have to take your eyes off the road to work the damn thing. Give me back my knobs and buttons.

Also, put some better marks on the stupid HVAC knobs or make them with a handle on 'em (not just round) so you can tell which which way they're pointed at a glance or by feel. That stupid line on them becomes invisible to the driver as soon as it's turned past 12:00

And we also wonder why accident rates continue to climb. Like hello, there's a giant friggin flat-screen in the middle of the dash. Maybe a little distracting?
I legit shut my HUD off on my 2018 because I find it too distracting, and it's only like a 6in screen. Can't imagine having a laptop sized sceen constantly in my peripheral vision at all times, on or off.

I just hope the screen size doesn’t increase for the 4th gen IMO. Im very happy with it as is in terms of size.

Now as for the screen size in my wife’s 2016 4Runner, Im glad they did eventually increase its size because it was VERY small.

If I wanted a big screen I could go to Best buy and get one for $500 or less. TOYOTA is giving it away here for like $10k.

But please don’t me wrong, I can see how everyone gains here. First, the sale tax is higher, the insurance has to go higher, the finance fee is higher, and when it breaks, well you do the math, cause I’m pretty sure I’m leaving other chit out.

So all in all everyone wins, and as a reward I get a deep hole in my pocket for ventilation. Thank you so much, I needed that

This is the dash on my '29 Plymouth, it's all I need. However, a fuel gauge would be helpful.

first gen had 9 year run
seciond gen had 10 year run
third gen will maybe have a 10 year run? no saying exactly.
So estimated 4th gen maybe 2026 or 2027?

The second gen Tacoma started being developed in 2000, hit the roads 2005.

If we assume a 5 year dev->road then they likely started deving the 4th gen in 2021 or 2022 and we will maybe see the 4th gen hit the markets in 2026 or 2027.

    aaaaaand now i'm old. woah.

The only thing I HATE HATE about the tacoma's interior is lack of storage space. It's terrible. I sat in my friend Highlander and there's storage everywhere.

I have to disagree with the Venza. I think it is terrible. My Mom bought a new one and I have driven with her on multiple long trips >350miles. I absolutely hate that car. Pretty much everything about it. Especially the interior. It is very uncomfortable. Way more uncomfortable than my Tacoma. I think the first gen Tundra's interiors was great. I think the materials in the first gen Tacomas were far superior to my 3rd gen. I think the seconds were probably better too. The "design" of the third gen layout is better, but the materials really suck. Every thing scratchs so easily. Its ridiculous.

4th gen: bigger brakes all around. Update the slightly cartoonish looking gauges. More power. Way more power! Small V8 maybe. Better visability over the hood. More power. Much Lower range low range. Factory front locker. Smooth out underbelly. Manual shift transfer case. Blah blah blah...
