hello, Tacoma brothers! today i just bought a 2002 Toyota Tacoma Double cab TRD 4x4 with the SR5 package the truck has 168,000 miles on it and i paid $11,370 with title and registration out the door. was this a good deal? Or did i pay too much? everyone is telling me that i payed Way to much for an old truck and the miles are too high for what its worth and im trying to explain to my friends and family that it is a TACOMA! is it true that i am i just paying for the Tacoma name? or are these trucks really worth what they are? my truck is currently at the dealership getting detailed i will report back with some pictures when i get it! :)

    Welcome to TW.

I think as long as the frame was good, and the rest of the truck is in good condition, I think it's a solid deal.

I've seen Double Cab 2WDs in the 200k mile range for more than that price.

Out of curiosity, where did you buy it? Geographically.

I'd say it's an average deal. Double cabs hold WAY more value than access cabs, IMO, especially in the 1st gen.
    Welcome to TW!

That's cheap for a double cab. Especially for a TRD 4wd

    Your price sounds about right.

I recently bought my 2001 Tacoma 4x4 SR5 Deluxe extended cab with new frame, brake lines, rear suspension, and new bumpers. Had 76,000 mi & original owner for $13,000. Body is just about mint as is interior. And the previous owner got ALL of the owner's manual "suggested" maintenance done, along with 3,000 mi oil changes AT the original selling dealership. I didn't think that I would EVER find a gen 1 in this condition! Colour me happy!

Who can say if you did Good ??

It might be 168,000 miles since it had fresh oil

Might still be the first Timing Belt.

    One never knows

Everyone pays too much for these trucks. Especially the double cabs. Not saying that they are bad. I love my Tacoma. They just have super inflated prices.

yes i looked for rust and i found small spots of rust but it looked like normal wear and tear. i wasn't sure what to look for. i did not see any holes in the frame or pieces falling off or anything like that so i think it should be okay.

Sounds about right. I'm familiar with your area. Decent ones go fast. It took me a long ass time to find mine.

Indeed. The people selling them are usually very aware of that.

That seems like a decent price in the PNW. Other factors in value that you did not mention are whether it has a v6 or not. Also if it has an elocker.

You got a pretty good deal. Prices on Tacomas and 4 Runners here in the PNW are insane. As long as its in good mechanical shape you did well.

If you did pay too much for it what could you do now?
