Fuel injection, no issues or hot start buttons anymore. My 2016 250f starts first kick.

That is a shame. I have gotten to ride so many different bikes because everybody wants to ride my 125.

I'm going to disagree. I'm 6' 175 and mine was fine for the couple years I rode it. It's a great stepping stone for him to work his way up to a 250.

I think it's a good bike for now even if it's not set up for me

It's just how people are around here and liability issues, etc. Plus some people are protective of their investments, new 125's are $6k bikes.

I said it will be good to learn, but 200lbs and 6'2 is not for a 125, most riders would agree with me on this one. But you ride what you got, and its all dependent on budget, rider, etc. The easiest bike by far to learn on is a four stroke, but a 450f which is more his weight and height would be asking for trouble, so yes the 125 is a good stepping stone, but willing to bet he will want to move up, again not new to this, but its op's bike and op's choice in what he rides. Just my 2 cents.

Don't get me wrong. I would love a 250F. If I buy one, I will look for a deal on last year's model.

Englishtown Raceway park is closest to you likely. New Jersey Motorsports Park Field of Dreams is South Jersey/Millville a bit further but one of my favs. There's some tracks in DE as well.

You will need the tailgate down in a short bed no matter what. My old 08 DCSB and at the time new 12yz250f.

19k on my brothers 07 wr250f (stock and not uncorked).
12k on my 08 wr450f. Even with cams and loads of other mods ive never much as had to adjust the valves ever. Rock solid engines and i think people exaggerat how much it costs to rebuild these 4strokes.

Neither are track bikes nor does it sound like you race, a track ridden, raced bike will need rebuilt more often, and the yamaha 5 valve design your talking about is pretty bulletproof to begin with. But it sounds like you haven't had to do a full rebuild yet, you will see once you do the cost difference.
