Ive been down here for a little over two months now, moving from Virginia was hard and it was harder going from a nice manager wage at Walgreens to a basic minium wage burger cooker and Mcdonalds. There is a plant that a few of my friends here work at within walking distance of my apartment. I have tried for a month to get hired on and they told me today to start Monday.

It is a commerical air conditioning plant and they make a/c systems for like malls and large commerical buildings. Has anyone working in this field that can lend me some tips or advice? I will be flipping the finished housings over and loading them on to pallets. Ive worked most of my life and I have stacked engines on pallets at my old job so I am not completely new to this, just a little nervous. Hahaha

    Thanks guys.

Sounds like a good deal, everyone has to start somewhere. You will know shortly on if they are a good outfit or not and someplace you can see yourself grow. Starting any new job can be intimidating, just don’t walk in the door like you know everything. Walk in be considerate of others that have been there, listen and learn and make it look like you want to grow with the company. Maybe a few years you will be promoted. Be part of the team, even if it means sucking it up every now and then...gain as much knowledge about the company you can, these are the folks that dont get over looked at promotion.

I went from Driving Armored Money Trucks around at $8 an hour, 20 years ago, to becoming a District Manager in charge of 5 facilities in my previous position working my way through all levels. I had career change 4 yrs back and now in management for a different organization but I still started at the bottom and put my time in. More importantly, I hope its a job you will like.

    Good Luck.....

Well after almost through one week of work (Monday-Saturday during the overtime as of now) I can say I honestly love it. Everyone was as friendly as hell on my first day and so far the ten hour shifts are wearing me down too bad. I was nervous for nothing it looks like, it takes less than two minutes for me to walk to work so the Tacoma sits at home waiting to be driven this weekend. Haha
