Really it doesn’t work that way. The allocation is just that—allocated by Toyota with the dealership that it is allocated to having first dibs. Finding one in production, if not allocated to your dealer already, is looking to get it from another dealer that it is already allocated to, possibly through a trade. No allocation and you have no guarantee that you will ever get what you want. Mine was allocated to my dealer already. Then, he changed the color and added the tonneau to make it mine. However, that truck was coming to my dealership by right (allocation). If I did not secure it with a deposit it could have been traded to another dealership, but that is the CHOICE of the dealership that it is already allocated to. Either tweak one already allocated to your dealership or find a dealership that the one you want is allocated to. That is the only sure way to get what you are looking for.

Since my initial visit to the dealership a couple days ago, I have been planning to make a trip back to the dealership this weekend to follow up with my sales rep about my future truck.

I will be taking with me the opinions I have read you and others have posted and use it to get clarification on things. I do want to be as sure as possible/within reason that I will in fact be getting what I request or as close to it.
