Wasn’t here long but it’s been real guys! I love your trucks, but couldn’t justify the utility of the truck. I just didn’t use it for what it was intended.

So I bought a new DD! Ask me anything if anyone is considering the car life... looked at Subaru, Ford, Volkswagen... ended up with the Honda.

Here is what I hope it looks like upon delivery!

Have a buddy with one. I love my Taco but the fun factor of driving a type R daily would be through the roof. I would get myself in trouble. Specifically that R can take ANY corner at ANY speed you can throw at it. Their suspensions are no joke.

You’ll get crap from some people for the boy racer look. Don’t worry, everyone secretly loves it. We just feel we have to mock it.

Still a Honda guy. Split daily driver time with a CR-Z to share some miles.

I get crap all day long but I love it. Fun to drive (not like that R) great gas mileage and dead reliable. Cheap enough I can keep both car and truck.

If feasable it is always best to have both a truck and a fun road car. I have a 2006 gto for the pavement but given the choice of one vehicle I would keep my Taco.

I came from a 2017 civic hatchback sport touring. Only reason I parted with it is because I moved to the boonies, it just wasnt practical.

Loved the car. It had far more advancements than my tacoma has. LED headlights & highbeams, the auto highbeams work way better, the charging pad worked well, lane keep assist actually took over steering, car play & android auto, a holder for nalgene bottles... I could go on.

    You'll love it.

Have spent time in a WRX. Not the STI. The WRX is way more practical for actual daily driving/any road condition. That R is just a race car all the time. Not sure how it would do it rain or snow. WRX is fast spooled up and smoother. The R is fast but isn’t crazy fast. Just a small turbo. It’s just hyper in sync with the road. Steering response / handling is a good as anything I’ve driven.

I saw one at the oc auto show last week. The thought of trading in my cement taco for a manual cement hatch civic seemed good and practical to me

I'd junk any truck that had that feature. There's an argument for it on family cars. No places on trucks. Pure safety concern, as someone who actually hauls and works trucks to their full capacity every day

I couldn't agree more. Splitting miles between the taco and a fun, yet practical road car is the way to go!

I for one appreciate that you have the maturity to take two steps back and assess that the Tacoma is not for you, and in fact the civic type r is. I wish all of the type r types would, honestly. Maybe you impulse bought the Tacoma because you saw something on Instagram, or an ex gf made a comment once about some other guys truck, or maybe you were just infatuated by the “secret community” you would see daily, tacomas with awesomely cryptic stickers, bed rack racks etc. Good luck (you won’t need it, that civic will probably never die) and I wish you could take more of these secret Jdm guys with you.

I had a 2004 Honda Civic years ago. It was the first car I financed, so I was meticulous with service, followed the factory service recommendations to the t and took it to the stealership for service.

At around 145,000 miles it starts randomly overheating. Take it in, blown head gasket.

I know Honda’s have this reputation of being bullet proof but the one Honda I had was a lemon. Really turned me off from them.

One question. When you get on it, does it sound like a weed whacker or a chainsaw? It’s either or, not none of the above.
