i killed my truck.

It made me laugh to krazie, and they totalled it from what I understand in another thread

eh i have a 96 tacoma and a 99 4runner on my list..haven't really found anything that i'm too excited about.

insurance told us that the only thing we can take are the wheels and tires. they consider the rest "permanent" so i can't remove my suspension or intake. oh well, that's just $1700 down the drain

 

If you have the receipts, they should cover the modifications. At least thats what my insurance agent told me.

 

not mine. they don't cover any after market parts because it doesn't add value to the truck.

 

That truly sucks, I might fight that with them.

 

did you keep your stock parts? switch it out, not like they'll know the diff.

id say do it anyway. it's your money dude, obviously they are not looking out for their customer.

 

Why would they? None ever will.

My advise in the future if this would happen (heaven forbid it would), is to have it towed to your house and start pulling parts ASAP, before an adjuster see it. I have a plan for mine if this happened.

Screw the insurance companies, they will screw you any chance they get.

 

The insurance company just actually parts to make it a "whole" vehicle. Most companies wont pay you for after market parts unless you have and additional rider on your policy. As long as you put the factory parts back on everything is fine. The only thing they may ding you on (at least in Ohio) is tire tread depths since that is measureable. The insurance company then sells the truck as a whole unit at a salvage auction.
