Those prices do seem high. The resale on the Tacomas is better than on the Fords. Between that and the concern about interior space I'd think the Ford would be a better fit. You'll also find more room to haggle on the price of the Ford, if not at that dealer then at another.

The rear of the access cab Tacoma is too small for adults and when it came time for me to look for a crew cab I first looked at the crew cab Tacomas. The resale really is unbelievable, so I decided to go for a full-size truck and picked up a 2006 F250 crew cab diesel 4x4 for under $12,000. There are deals out there if you look, and you'll find MUCH better prices on the Fords.

Also, don't be afraid of buying a vehicle off Ebay and flying somewhere to pick it up. Lots of dealers list on there and I've had 2 excellent experiences buying from dealers on Ebay. Both times it involved a flight out to Kansas City and a drive back to NJ, but it's a great chance to become familiar with your new ride.

    Good luck with your search!

The FJ actually has less interior seating room than the crew cab Tacoma.

:confused:Your other concerns are valid. ^^That is just ridiculous^^.

Like others have said price a new Tacoma at a different dealership. It is obvious that the salesman you spoke to is not very good at what he does.

Wrong place to get an "opinion" but if you're doing it it means you like the Tacoma a lot. Honestly in the japanese market Tacoma is the best you can get. Yet in the american market F150 would be. I don't think you will make the wrong choice eighter way. One thing though - don't confuse comfortability with cubic inch - more interior room doesn't mean more comfortable seating, it just means more of it...
OK, whatever you pick please please please do not buy a used under 10000 miles. Under 10000 miles is new enough for them to try and sell as close to the new price as possible, yet old enough for them to give you a much higher interest rate on the loan and less time on warranty.
Dealers everywhere are hurting to use new stock and you will get a great deal, low rate and full warranty (at times even some maintenance).
For 5-6000 miles it's not worth the trouble. Negociate and buy new....and buy Toyota...lol (i had to say it)
