In the case of driving drunk I wouldn’t need to be honest because driving drunk is a stupid idea and when I’ve been drinking heavily I’ve always planned ahead; The truck stays at home and I call an Uber.

If you do something stupid behind the wheel while sober, in most cases simple honesty can get you out of a ticket.

Yes this is true! If you had over the limit it is NOT worth it to drive. I learned from a few friends how expensive it is and PITA it is to deal with DUI/OUI. One of my friends has had multiple and lost his license for 2 years.

There have also been times when I was completely hammered and heading home in an Uber after midnight, and me and the Uber driver will see someone by the side of the road getting arrested and start laughing.

Those car breathalyzers are an old system that I think we need to get rid of for something new. I mean it's almost 2020 and we haven't seen hardly any innovation from when it was introduced as "interlock", a breathalyzer in cars, in 1969. We've already collected as a society that texting and driving is dangerous and in some places illegal. So why on God's green earth, would a device be acceptable by our States that FORCE you to take your eyes off the road and a hand off the wheel to blow into to the point of light headedness in the middle of your commute? It seriously is anti-safe. Let's add more distractions and safety issues to an already deemed "unsafe" driver. It just seems completely backwards.

Also, the punishment should fit the crime...

I’ve got a friend who got a DUI for weed. She has to get one of those installed in her car for a year in order to legally drive. A breathalyzer that tests for Blood Alcohol Content! There should be a device that tests for THC or something!

Another person I know got a DUI for prescription drugs and also has to install on of those breathalyzers in her car. Again, there should be a device for testing for the presence of prescription drugs!

The obvious moral of the story here is to never drive impaired, but the bureaucracy really pisses me off.

Please don’t take this the wrong way. I for one like to try out different looks. Usually if most people say “I Love It”, you know. Few people, most trying to be polite, actually tell you when something looks heinous...”I don’t love it.” But it ain’t my truck and frankly who the fuck am I anyway!

You can “use” a plastic mannequin just about anywhere.

Like I said, the obvious moral
is to never drive under the influence of anything you think could impair you...

The last thing I’d want is to lose my
    license!

The BAC thing is just so hilarious. There was no ALCOHOL in the system. Which is what that device specifically detects. So to install one is strictly for monetary gains

Exactly. I'm not advocating anything, but pointing out obvious flaws.

    @Freegolf

I’ve got a friend who lives in Hong Kong, and here are some fun facts about HK:

    • Everyone in HK has a photo ID, but many people there don’t drive and an HK driver’s license does not have a picture; it merely accompanies the HKID.
    • An HK driving license is valid for a decade!
    • Points for traffic offenses remain on the license for a decade!
    • HK has an absolutely zero tolerance attitude towards DUI no matter what the circumstances; Get caught with more than like .02 or .04 in your system and your license is gone!
My friend says that most of the people who lose their HK licenses for DUI are expats from countries with more lenient DUI laws (like the US).

Texas just legalized em. No good reason to criminalize them anyways.
