It's to hit those Cafe mpg marks. It's not just Toyota. Look at the little things they stick under F150 and F250s. I suppose their rational is "If you can afford the truck, you should be able to afford the tires of your choice."

Yep, I agree, and my Wrangler's work for that. I am just unimpressed with them off-road. I know you can't have it all in just one set of tires, but I'm sure there exists a better compromise.

@Hobbs get yourself some Duratracs... you can thank me later.

And if you don't want Duratracs most of the Toyos are good.

Duratracs are on the short list, along with KO2's and Discoverer S/T Pro's. I am one flat tire away from reskinning my Taco...

I really wanted to put Toyo MT's on the truck. I loved them on my Jeep.
But as we all know the Toyota's gearing and transmission is more suited for a minivan. I cant even imagine how crappy it would be trying to turn the weight of the MT's, so had to go BRO and KO2...

This is why I love Duratracs. you can get an aggressive tire in a 265/75 load range c. their weight is not that bad.

So, a few things make tires bro:

1: Do they have the words Kevlar, Pro or Extreme on the side.
2: Do they have white walls.
3: Does everyone else run them.

KO2's have 2 of the three.

THe Ko2's are cheap. They have about as much off road traction, as a butter dipped cat on a tile floor. Price wise, they are less than other off road tires, thus folks buy the crap out of them. BFG has great marketing, and they show a few chicks in bathing suits, dudes with shiny trucks, and bro caps, and they run out buy the tires, and call them awesome.

    Pros:

    Price.
    Look good
Have nice looking chicks in the adds

    Cons:

    Dry Off Road traction sucks
    Traction in mud sucks
    Street ride sucks-ish
They pick up EV-ER-RY fucking rock that you drive over, that's smaller than 1/2", and NEVER LET IT GO!
    Wet on road traction sucks
Everytime I off road on these tire, I want to club a seal.

Road trip for seal clubbing and bacon. Maybe even try some of that foreign food the Canadians are rambling on about in the other thread.

All I can picture now is some Bro with 3" spacer lift and 285 KOs loosing his shit when my 5100s on the first notch and 265 Duratracs can go where ever I want and all his do are spin and ding his paint with pea sized rocks when he hits pavement again...

I drove over the coquihalla highway today with my bro KO2s, snow and ice on the passes. I had no problems, a ranger and a Chevy were on their roofs in the ditch.
I have the 265 70 17. Drove 250 miles over the mountains and lower mainland traffic still have 1/4 tank.
