If you're 200lbs sitting on one board in the middle its about .5". And much less (negligible) when you're laying across all three.

Well, I'm like 150, so that's not gonna be an issue for me LOL. System looks pretty sweet, nice clean look to it.

Yeah the clamps might be a little long. you might be able to modify them with shorter bolts/screws.

This isn't true, at least for 3rd gen Tacoma applications.

I have a homemade platform in my bed that's the same height as the Decked system right now and the topper clears it no problem.

I have the same feelings with my homemade drawer system. Does a great job for what I designed it for, which is camping, but it totally neuters the truck's ability to be a truck in most every other aspect.

Exact reason why bambeds design to me is perfect. Easy to remove and you can have some Rubbermaid tubs with wheels on them. I will be picking up a set or making my own once I get my topper.

I have ATH bed stiffeners with mine and they do not interfere at all and yes it will sag. The decked alone is about 200lbs.

I actually just ordered the Victory 4x4 bed stiffeners and the blue SumoSprings. I'm hoping that helps until I get a lift

I've been thinking about doing this... I've been a little hung up on how to best anchor one down though. Any good examples you can point me to?

Had a sleeping platform with totes on one side and a slideout kitchen under a tall topper on the last truck, and it was perfect(and heavy)! Unless you needed to do truck stuff....

So, I have had many trucks for years. I have used:
    Drawers
    Topper
Covers (soft and hard, tri and roll)
    No cover

This time, I decided to go with just an open bed. Why?
Drawers mean you carry around a bunch of shit you don't need 99.9% of the time.
    Toppers are the same thing.
Covers - I actually NEEDED a cover almost never.

It is definitely refreshing to not have anything now. When that rare time I need some type of container in the bed, I use a tote or I use a dry bag that takes up the bed space.

    That's just me.

You should be good with that. I believe most bedside stiffeners will not interfere with the Decked/drawer functionality. TC and/or Cali Raised are designed to work with Decked actually.

You could also do an AAL relatively easily and inexpensively to manage the load.

But is gear lockable with the BamBed?:D

That’s the main reason why I sprung for the Decked. I work in the city and need to lock stuff up. Different purposes I guess. It’s also weather proof and holds up to like 2000 lbs.

Decked is generally best combined with a truck cap, but this is not ideal when you occasionally carry tall or awkward loads, like the OP said.

I use it with my Softopper (which can be moved by one person in about 2 min, if necessary to accommodate a tall load), and it’s the perfect combo IMO.

Totally agree, that's a great case for Decked.

Like this a lot, but wish it were cheaper haha.

Making my own tomorrow based off this thread https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/somewhat-fold-up-sleeping-platform-with-locking-hinges.580174/

Probably go the 2x8 across notches route if I fail miserably (good chance I will lol).

    Thanks mclslee!
If you want to DIY the BamBeds boards it's pretty simple.
You need 2x 3/4" 4x8' sheets that are cut to 24"x 56.75" and you can use cardboard to get the cutouts made for the tailgate area.
