I did this with my DIY drawer system. Works perfect for heavy things like coolers and bigger bulky items

Back when I had my AT Habitat I was always 90% loaded for camping. Was great to head out at a moments notice for weekend getaways. But that definitely made it pretty much impossible to use the truck to haul things. I've got a 16 foot car hauler, and have picked up all kindsa stuff with it. it's overkill, but it works. I'm so used to towing that trailer now I don't think anything of it. I can have it hooked up and ready to go in about 3 minutes. And unhooking is just the same. Loading it is usually even easier than trying to get stuff up into the bed. Like that air compressor, or the mentioned transmission. Low deck trailer would make that stuff EASY. Just my 2 cents as to just using a trailer.

Decked was too expensive and heavy for me to consider. I just use totes in a camper shell.

I've had the Decked with a Softopper for several years now, it is the best for the way I like to camp. Everyone has different needs.

That's actually a pretty great setup! Unfortunately for me where I live, that would be a bonus reward for cat converter thieves casing the streets

It's made by Adrian steel. It's made for commercial vehicles like an electrician would use. When I got it the 2 sides were mounted on top of each other and it had a locking cabinet next to it. I took it all apart to put it in It's current configuration which works much better for me.

Cool. I've been trying to rig up something like this too for a sleeping platform, since the short bed is too short as it is.

How did you fit the boards under the drawer?!

They both just slide under. Both are a foot wide. I want to build a little riser for the tops of the drawers to bring it up higher. I think it’s 3/4 in plywood.

Having a Decked system sure is a love and hate relationship hahha.. Took up all my bed space but being able to slide out the drawers and all is pretty awesome instead of hopping in and out the get something. It is a tough system that's for sure!

Those are really nice! No cross beams needed for support underneath?

I had to remove my retractable bed cover and put this soft one, because it works with CBI bed rack (on the way).

Nope! They're made out of some pretty high-quality material.
I've even got a video on my website of several people jumping up and down on them to prove the durability.
There is a small amount of flex (~0.5-1") with two people sitting on one board but when you're laying on the mattress across all 3 there's nearly zero deflection.

I think I finally found the best solution for my truck and it’s made out of scrap wood. I can pull the drawer fully out and have the full height of the bed to load large heavy items or load the drawer up with a refrigerator and other taller objects by taking out the center platform board. The drawer slides easily on plastic furniture sliders attached to the two cross braces, and the only non-removable platform piece is the one above my Titan fuel tank.

The platform is strong enough I can lay on top of it so it can be a bed too. It’s very high and can accommodate large things underneath it, but luckily I have a MX ARE high top shell so there’s still room above the platform. I’ll get some measurements and take some photos and post them, it’s really a very convenient platform and pull out drawer at the right price - $20 in hardware!84B610B2-65EC-40E9-84D0-294DCB563234.jpg

Very cool. I'd love to see a ruggedized version that is coated with a bed liner or similar so I wouldn't worry about scratching/gouging that beautiful wood surface. Or maybe a rubber mat for the top instead.
