Alright so I've had some friends give me shit about driving a 4 banger, but I actually love it. Before I bought it I had a friend tell me it was going to be tough getting on the highway with the 4 cylinder....yea right. I like that my truck is not a speed demon, and has grandma approved acceleration. I think it keeps me from getting a ticket, and besides I have a motorcycle for when I want to speed. I was wondering what you guys think? Is the 4 cylinder quick enough for you all, or do you wish it was a little quicker?

I was plenty happy with my 2.7, even before I SC'ed it.

The 4 cylinder is a good truck. I recently sold my V10 truck because its a gas guzzler!!! If you need it fine, I didnt anymore. But if your friends think they need it to feel like a man, thats a little sad.

Just like you said though, if you want some speed get a bike. No matter what truck you have it aint gonna be a race car. Whats all that power for, so you can haul to the dump quicker??? Very impressive.

it might be slow but i can bet you it gets better gas mileage than the bigger engines.

It's a guy thing. Even if you get a V-6. Your friends will get a bigger displacement V-6. Then if you get a V-8, they'll get a bigger V-8. Just be happy with what you have and no need to "keep up with the Jonis brothers."

Jap 4 cylinders appeal to me. There's just something nice about knowing the engine will never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever fucking break no matter what.

If I wasn't pushing upsized tires on this thing, and didn't need the DC, and could get the locker on the 4-cyl, I probably would've gone with the 4-cyl AC...

I love my Corolla. Just ticked over 175,000mi today and the engine still runs and revs butter smooth. It's probably not even halfway done yet.

I really enjoy it and will enjoy it moreso after a regear. Hmm my GF has a V6 Jeep and I get up to freeway cruising speed quicker than she does and get much better mileage.

I enjoyed my 26 mpg on my trip to Kentucky last weekend :) The 4 cylender is just fine. I have just a regular cab little 5 lugger with a 5 speed manual trans so I can keep it in the power band as long as I want so it's just fine with me. The only thing I want is bigger/wider tires so this thing would handle a little better. Those moutain coal roads about wore me out!

lol its funny you guys say it keeps you from getting tickets. The only 2 times I have been pulled over (no tickets luckily) was in my 93 4 banger 4x4. I have had 2 cars since then that are a lot quicker. i am trying to figure out how that worked out for me...

I like my 4 cyl. just fine. It goes plenty fast enough to get tickets, and the low end torque is plenty for decent acceleration. Wouldn't even consider a 6 cyl. unless I was regularly hauling heavy loads or trailers.

A powerful engine gets you out of hairy situations, leaves more margin when passing on two-lane roads. My V6 saves my life on the freeway four times a day. I would've opted for the GX460's 4.6L V8 in a heartbeat if it were available for the Taco.
