    a) what does where her parents live have to do with anything, much less the OP's truck?

    b) why should her parents be held financially responsible for the damage to the OP's truck?

    a) Read the very very very very first post before you ask silly questions

    b) It was mainly a joke...pressing a button to access property must mean they have some moola, hence why they could fork over the dough for repairs

please don't take this the wrong way sir...

I let a friend borrow my Mazda B2000 4X4 once...I had it about a month. Came back with scratches all down the passenger side the entire length of the truck. The passenger mirror was missing and the rear quarter panel was bashed in. The guy claimed he was using it to move some 'gear' out of his apartment. I found mud underneath the truck and the tranny smelled like it was burning. A few beers later he admitted to taking it out for "a spin" and leaving the Earth with it.

We don't talk anymore. I'm still pissed about that. Never again will I lend my toys or tools to anyone. Not even my wife.

OH HELL NO !!! That's flat out fawking carelessness. It's called pull in close to hit the button ( because god forbid we get OUT of the truck ) then drive away and completely forget that we're driving a truck and drag the side of it down the post. Nope...sorry..no forgiveness there. I am the ONLY one to drive the truck. Same with my bike. That way nothing like this can happen.

Damn that sucks dude, sorry to hear. The good news is that cab corner does not need to be replaced, not by a long shot. Obvious repair and paint on the door and boxside. Replace all decals and stonetape. Hard to tell from the pictures but looks like you'll probably be blending the front door for color match. I know you don't want to make a claim but whatever you do make sure you get it fixed RIGHT. Right isn't always cheap, and usually never is. You can make that look damn good for under $1000 but trust me you don't want that repair. Do your research on shops get an estimate then make your decision. But I can't see it it being worth it paying for it yourself to lower your premiums. And it should go without saying thy you shouldn't just leave it, unless you want your truck to be a giant magnet for rust! Good luck with whatever you do, hopefully your gf learns this time. I wouldn't mind seeing some after pictures too once you get your truck fixed of you fid the time

This is almost exactly the damage my son did to my truck when he decided that a mailbox needed to be moved away from the roadway

My damage went a bit further down the bedside though. Final cost was $1500. Estimates ranged from 1100-1750 though, so shop around and be sure that who you go with has accounted for all the work required; door panel removal, window removal, door handle and window trim, remove the bed (actually just slide it back some), fender flare removal (if needed to properly blend the paint. On mine they also needed to blend it part way up the front door.

Thanks guys for the input, stories, and laughs. Truth of the matter is, accidents happen. She likes driving my truck just as much as I do. (and who doesn't like a chick driving a truck:)) I fully intend on having the repair done right. I spent too much money and time to have some half-ass work be done. And she will be paying for it, even if it means she cant go to the mall for a few months.
