I love Texas because what started as a duty station became a home. Neighbors became life long friends, Friends became family. God Bless Texas and some of the finest people in the world.

It is amazing how hard it is to understand that until you're no longer in Texas.

Ha, we swapped places! I was born in Alabama and grew up in Texas!

But I was saying it is hard to appreciate what is "Texas" until you are no longer surrounded by it. Kinda like not knowing what you have till you don't have it anymore.

Yep, when I was in Virginia it just reminded me how much I missed Texas. California was fun; but it isn't Texas.

SoCal is pretty cool. We had the beach at our door steps, the desert a couple hours in land, and the mountains only a couple hours north. The land is amazing and the views are breath taking (the land and the girls :D ). Sadly most of the people are enough to make me never return. Great place to visit; but as long as the people/laws out there are there I'll never stay again for more than a weekend.

I've been around a bit just to count the places that I spent more than a couple weeks:

    Norfolk, Virginia
    Baghdad, Iraq
    Manama, Bahrain
    Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
    Djibouti, Djibouti
    San Clemente, California
    Okinawa

Yep, still like Texas the best!
